Blimey thats another shocker. Always thought of him as a blonde youth causing chaos in defences alongside Peter Withe. RIP.

Remembering the blonde hair and boyish looks and a real handful for defenders. Great partnership with Peter Withe. RIP.

Gary Shaw, Gary Shaw, Gary, Gary Shaw, When he gets the ball he’s sure to score, Gary, Gary Shaw. That’s the song I remember the Villa fans singing. Brilliant player, one of the better players at the time, never to play for England. RIP.

I feel that part of my youth has just passed on there , always smiling, working class kid from a strong Blues neighbourhood with the wedge hair cut playing for his families team in Claret and Blue. Fantastic player who glided over the pitch even when it was knee deep in mud. I think his passing is harder because he is frozen in time, his career limiting injury came before his 23rd Birthday so we never saw him age on the pitch.
I think its a testament to him is that he appears to be liked both South and North of the City. He was sociable in the drink and made many friends attending charity and youth football events whenever asked. Perhaps unenviably he has one of the most bizarre football chants to his name. At a Birmingham derby in front of the Tilton he attempted to do an overhead kick and got nowhere near the ball. As he hit the ground he was serenaded with the chant " Who the Shaw, Who the Shaw , Who the Shaw is Gary Fuck"

What a great player he was. I was staying in Birmingham at the time he was a prolific player for Villa. Even went to one of their matches against Man City. Unfortunately his career was cut short through injury, but I do remember he scored many brilliant goals.
RIP.Condolences to family and friends.

Didn't he get a bad injury at a young age?
Did he go to Shrewsbury or was that David Geddis?

Big name from back in the day, I am sure the Lego box at my mum's house which my brother plastered in football stickers has one of him on the side. Note to myself, I must get the space Lego out one day 🙂 Rip Gary
