It's nothing so with wanting him to fail. It's the exact opposite of the point your making. 99% of fans would want Schumacher in charge still. Utter nonsense! I was surprised he was sacked but he’s hardly been great for us. I didn’t want to ever see a repeat of the Oxford outing! I’ve longed for us to get a foreign coach and I’m delighted we have. Yes it’s a gamble but an exciting one. I’m very much looking forward to seeing how he gets on and I can assure you there’s far more than 1% of us that feel the same! I've longed for a foreign Manager as well. Their is loads of things this club could do to bring it kicking and screaming into the 21st century. I just don't think employing the defensive coach of a team below us, who's never managed a bean, although from Catalonia and looks good on camera is the best move.

It's pretty obvious SJW is running the Club now. I'm kinda OK with that. This is what most fans were calling for someone to come in and run the club and now they have done it people moan because JW is running the club. They need to make there mind up I'd love a DOF who's got form in the job. We're balls deep with a rookie.

Has anyone found a way to read sentinel articles? Like the adverts have made it so it’s literally the last source of information I’d use about us, and that’s with Pete Smith being an excellent writer too. I don't really have any problems these days, with an adblocker on the desktop and using the SOT Live app on phone.

I reckon they couldn’t do it before the transfer deadline as that would have sent the wrong message to any transfer dealings . Also Walters has had too much on his plate in dealing with prospective incomings. So they waited till after the deadline and Oxford gave them the perfect smoke screen . Also we finished the season in glorious style so they couldn’t do it then cuz that would have caused mega reaction . So starting this season on a similar footing was required . When performances were poor the plan was triggered . At least it shows a succession plan was well thought through . For that you have to admire . As to SS his record was better than any of his predecessors since relegation and hard to swallow given he was a nice bloke too

A random Rookie who has, however, been coaching in the very league that we're in for the past 4/5 years under various managers some of whom on here are viewed as being successful. We're looking to him as a Coach NOT a manager so it's kind of him being given job that he's qualified for isn't it?! I'd say possibly more so than a nice bloke who'd managed a League 1 team only before. Anyways, time will tell. I trust also that Walters ,having played at the highest level, achieved his coaching badges and a Masters in Sports directorship is likely in a better place to know what is required than any of us! One last thing, we don't know what other offers may have been made to our 'Random Rookie' re: Head Coach positions but maybe this one was the best fit for him. He seems like an very intelligent guy so I doubt he'd make random choices about his career progression and would wait until he felt ready for the next step. It's a big step, there are huge possibilities/outcomes either way but he's our 'Random Rookie' now and I rather like the cut of his jib. Think that's fair enough. However daft as it sounds this job is a massive job compared to anything he's been used to. And the shambolic way we've been run the last 6 years makes it all the more difficult and bigger. And some fans are thinking that the way Schumacher has been treated makes it that bit more tricky given its unsettled the fan base I hope he has the mettle for it. Time will as the saying goes tell. In what way is it bigger than coach at Norwich? I think most people outside the two cities would say Norwich and Stoke are on a par. OK he was not no. 1 there but he is coming to Stoke as coach, not manager and has had four years coaching in the Championship so has far more relevant experience than Schumacher had had. Schumacher's experience in charge of a team was 18 months at a much smaller club in Division 1 so he knew very little about the Championship and has admitted that he was taken by surprise by the intensity in the Championship.

He's picking the team - I assume - he's absolutely a random rookie it's an enormous an unnecessary gamble If he does well fantastic but surely everyone should be concerned someone with such limited credentials has got a Head Coach job in The Championship I agree it is a big gamble. But one worth taking. We were going nowhere. Everyone who was at Watford and Oxford knows we were miles off the level required to compete in this league, absolutely miles in selection, motivation, tactics & substitutions. We are way too open and fragile with no attacking plan. It may relegate us but we needed to move for a coach who can improve individuals as well as the team, no sign SS was that. Junior, Bae, Burger, Pearson, Maaee, Vidigal all went backwards under him. Spot on

I would rather have someone like JW who obviously cares. You are judging him on nothing. You could say we have a rookie in midfield and wide left and at no10 and a right back but do you not give them a chance to prove they are good enough?

Nah... It's got Walter's fingerprints all over it. He's picked out Pelach weeks ago and waited for SS to hang himself. You can bet the vibes were going through to the players as well. Oxford performance more or less down tools. Got a strange feeling Gibson has done some whispering as well. All this supposition on here by so-called sensible people. I just hope that if I'm on trial, that I don't get any of you "supposers" on the jury. Guilty before tried. Give over mate.. it's a football messageboard. 95% bullshit 3% fact 2% Benjamin, which you can't decipher

Hate reading anything on the sentinel. Adverts have destroyed it. Even if you wait for everything you think to load you get quarter way down and the page crashes. Obviously they need adverts for revenue but don’t the dipshites understand no one will read them and stop using because it’s unreadable on mobile devices!

Last season Pelach was coaching a Norwich side that finished 6th in the Championship and just missed out in the playoffs. In the first half against us at home I thought they looked a really expansive well organised side, ripped us apart!

Schumacher never stood a chance when people who were meant to be supporting him were working behind the scenes to get rid of him and his team. It probably affected performances because people know when something isn't right Every single time we've sacked a manager this forum has been in uproar that we've got no plan in place for who to replace him with. This time around we have had a plan in place (Thanks to clueless, inexperienced, out-of-his-depth Jon Walters) yet still people are in uproar. The club really can't win. Depending which camp your in this same observation can be used to back your point. 1 - Walter’s was waiting to stab him in the back, had this all planned and pounced 2 - As per the above, he saw things didn’t look right, or wasn’t happy with how SS was was running things, and had a plan in place for w awhile with targets in mind and ready to act should/when the time was right. The alternative was to continue doing as has been done for ever at stoke, wait till things are really bad then take an age sniffing round available option at that time and take what you can. I was shocked, really liked SS as a bloke, actually really wanted him to do well, but never really felt he would do it as performance just never seemed consistent

What plan? I don't see a plan You can’t see it because you have your Schumacher specs on I'm not talking about his sacking,I don't agree with it but can see there is some rationale to it What I am talking about is the apparent lack of credentials of the new Head Coach

He's been coaching since he was 25(please just wiki or something) He's been coaching in the CHAMPIONSHIP, where we are for 4 years. We are wanting a Head COACH not a manager. It's the modern way , please give it a go. PS: I've not bothered with a hugely detailed 'sell'. THAT he will have to do for himself 'cause I know you won't be satisfied with whatever I say

Walters was on trial a few months ago before being confirmed as SD. I can't believe he has sacked SS, this must have been done by the owners. Walters would certainly have had an input but the decision has been made above him. If the owners have given the decision too Walters then JC looks like he's got the management skills of Basil Fawlty. Nah... It's got Walter's fingerprints all over it. He's picked out Pelach weeks ago and waited for SS to hang himself. You can bet the vibes were going through to the players as well. Oxford performance more or less down tools. Got a strange feeling Gibson has done some whispering as well. Of course Walters will have been thinking of replacements ever since he came here. When he arrived we looked odds on for relegation and he was probably thinking then about who might do a better job. His rallying call helped turn the tide but he was obviously unconvinced. Like a lot of fans he waited to see how things went this season and could see that not a lot had improved and the chances were that we would finish lower midtable yet again. I didn't like the way Schumacher was sacked or how few games he was given but I am not a ruthless business person and do not like making big risk decisions. But I can see why Walters decided he didn't want to give the club and the fans another relatively poor season. And yes he obviously had been thinking who he might replace Schumacher with but isn't that better than sacking him, having Shawcross as interim manager for a month while he considers who to bring in. By the end of October we could have been so far behind the play off places that it was going to take a miracle to avoid another very mediocre finish. And yes SS did hang himself with poor team selection and poor tactics v Watford, WBA and Oxford and the only person who could be blamed for that was him not Walters.

Add to that reactive not pro active substitutions, leaving key players on the bench, the inverted full backs that everyone on here moaned at him weekly about, changing the starting 11 all the time, playing gooch in 10 role, losing away at bloody Oxford pissed me right off, but we didn’t just lose, we were shocking. I liked SS, but some on here need to give their heads a wobble and remember they themselves criticised plenty about him and our performances when he was here
