I’m majorly pissed with the timings, and feel like I’ve spaffed my season ticket money up the wall all over again. But thinking semi-rationally, I wonder if Norwich sacking Wagner meant this fella threw his hat in the ring there and was waiting to see how that played out? He’s perhaps struggling to fit into the new regime under Johannes Thorup and is now more receptive to an approach. But also begs the question of why didn’t Corberan take him to WBA with him if he’s so highly rated? Maybe he wants to be a head coach? In the 45-minute Norwich interview he says he stayed at Huddersfield out of a sense of loyalty and to not leave them completely in the lurch.

Get the feeling this will either go very very good..or very very bad. I don't think there will be a middle ground of just "steady" Never is middle ground at Stoke. We will probably know by the end of the year whether this, if it comes about, is genius or foolhardy. No idea myself but again fingers firmly crossed he comes good.

indeed but this is guaranteeing failure just a question of how much damage is done here Why? because we are appointing a rookie mid term that's insane a rookie in May or June would be a risk but summer to coach the team with an experienced person alongside that can work if they are supported properly there is nothing to suggest this chap has anything to bring to the table

I didn't get where I am today by approaching a manager who is clearly just an anagram! Ha ha. Superb.

Our last 6 appointments have been failures, O'Neil is the only one with some credit in the bank. There is no guaranteed success regardless of who we appoint. I wish we'd have given a quite clearly knackered O'Neill a few weeks off to see if that helped. By far my favourite post relegation manager, just a shame about the ever increasingly awful tactics and subs towards the end.

Even by our standards, this has been a crazy morning. Good/bad job I'm WFH. Looks like I'll be working until midnight to catch up on this mornings productivity lossage.

Don’t know the foggiest about him, but wishing him well if he comes here. As long as he is an excellent coach/tactically astute and a good man manager then that is all we can hope for in this model. He just has to get himself comfortable there is something to work with squad wise and that if areas of the squad need strengthening that he trusts he can have candid and open discussions with Walter’s/recruitment dept to have input into who they are looking for…

Narrowly avoided it with Schumacher but this would be our first manager/head coach who is younger than me. He’s done me as well. He’s a child, he doesn’t know he’s born - youngsters today, no respect and back in my day etc. etc. I’ve only just got over all the players being younger than me after Jags left - this is a whole new depressing ballgame.

I suppose it's no worse than appointing retired players like Rooney, Lampard and Gerrard.

I really didn't expect anyone with a great level of experience, that would have been the rest of the management team digging their own grave.

Have we ever sacked someone and appointed his permanent replacement on the same day before? Sounds like it's possible with the speed things are moving.
Think Nathan was appointed the day after Rowett left

Well I have just read that could be part of the problem ? It seems like a smokescreen to me, apparently the younger players had raised their concerns over the pace that it was taking for improvement, if it’s true half of them have only just arrived here

Interesting that at the end of both the last 2 fans forums, the last time a month ago, John Coates has said the 2 things that give him the most comfort about the future are Junho and Schuey!
"With this managerial team, we're ready to lift off!"
Shows you who is wearing the decision-making trousers.
