Dispelling the “cold wet night in Stoke” myth Stoke can't do it on a cold wet night in Stoke. That's one of the problems.

It's a good example of how lacking in knowledge most presenters and pundits are about individual clubs, or of how they're required to fit every team into an agenda/stereotype. We were nowhere near the worst team for "kicking lumps out of the opposition" for example and were generally one of the most sporting teams in the Premier League (sometimes to our downfall).
There were loads of misconceptions about the Stoke team at the time, usually painting the team, club, and area in a more negative light than the reality. Even the "cold wet Tuesday night" is a backhanded compliment.

Arsenal had far more red cards than us over that 10 year period.

There was definitely truth in it in the Pulis years but the cliche will always endure a lot longer than the reality
