That X post says that England could be banned from Euro 2028. No mention of club football.

That X post says that England could be banned from Euro 2028. No mention of club football. Yeah, that'll happen. This is the Tory press sending out a scaremongering message related to legislation pushed through by a Labour government. Which totally ignores the idea of a football regulator came from the tories and Labour are just fulfilling their plans.

Government ācontrolā or 3rd party control / āinterferenceā has long been seen unfavourably and punished by the controlling bodies and FFA .. and has seen several countries previously sanctioned or expelled .. meaning itās difficult if not impossible for other countries remaining in EUFA etc or under the FIFA umbrella from playing them ..without also being punished ..
controlling is very apt ..the controlling bodies believe itās their game and theyāve long resisted any outside influence ..in the name of protecting the interests of the game .. several countries have in the past received bans , Burma , chile , Mexico , Sth Africa , Kuwait , Yugoslavia , India ..Russia ā¦ etc usually itās against regimes weād see has worrying on the world stage not just sport ..whether theyād throw out one of their major commercial money making partners āEnglandā remains to be seen ..but they have chucked out other countries
I recall In our 1980 post season tour to the Caribbean we played Barbados twice and Martinique ( that game was abandoned without a ball being kicked due to a riot , protesting about home rule against the French ) ..but on that tour the money game was rumoured to be against Trinidad , who were expelled at the time ..in the end we didnāt play them ..whether that was because of other matters or because the threat and penalty of playing an non affiliated country would have been severe I donāt know
it shouldnāt be under estimated the many enemies we have in the game .. and how few true friends we have , weāre a threat to emerging football nations from in many cases buying their way onto the gravy train ( both in terms of money and massaged egos and power ) as one of the true protectors of the game many would love to see us thrown out for thinking weāre above all others , weāve a long proud history as the founders and promoters of the game ..but not necessarily of supporting EUFA , FIFA ..and many are resentful of that ..its an opportunity many have waited a long time for

They aren't going to kill a golden goose. Advertisers and sponsors wouldn't stand for it.

I wonder if UEFA are worried that they may loose out on a few brown envelopes?

I'm still waiting for FIFA to ban Saudi Arabia and UAE from international football for their Government's interference in English football.

Letās be honest, FIFA are literally doing all they can to ensure as many football mad nations qualify for their tournaments as possible. I give it a couple of world cups before 48 teams becomes 72.

Itāll just be a league before you know it with all the big games played in Saudi or Dubai or whatever

I just love watching my lads face when a belter goes in and I don't think any other sport can ever do that other than football. We both love our cricket but it's just not the same as footy in that sense.

I'm envious in some ways, but there are teams I just simply cannot watch even for 5 seconds nowadays. They include Arsenal (of course) it must be 2 or 3 years since Ive seen them play. The only players I could name from Arsenal are the ones who play for England.(Saka?) Newcastle is another. I couldn't stand them before all the Saudi stuff anyway. I don't watch Man City anymore, it feels wrong. It all feels so contrived at the top level even with the odd slip up, like its somehow fixed. Look at the top 4 after 4 games it will probably be the same at the end of the season. I do occasionally watch Man Utd if I know they have been beaten. Enjoyed some of Crystal Palace end of last season. There is plenty of other football to watch apart from Stoke(in other countries, international and non-league) so I get my fill from those and thats enough for me anyway. Sorry this is nothing directly to do with UEFA!

Like you say, itās simply a āgameā. I watch Stoke, that's it nowadays. The wider game doesn't really mean a great deal to me anymore. The way it's consumed has changed it really, the American model for sport has been applied to it and when you've grown up outside that it just all comes across as incredibly forced. The Mitchell & Webb FOOTBALL! sketch isn't parody anymore, it's fact. It'll gradually go the way of the NFL with Ā£3-400 match tickets. The only football related thing I actually enjoy watching is Stick to Football on YouTube.
