This was 8 years and 5 days prior to Stoke 7 Leeds 2.
Good understated commentary, including:
“It’s a goal!.. No it’s not” 🙂
Simple songs: “Come on Boro…” (sung in a different style to today).
“One Nil, One Nil…. “
When a goal scorer might be swung around by their neck! 🙂
Before Chelsea etc. became plastic clubs…
The only footage of that Stoke v Leeds game seems to be an incomplete recording by a supporter on a dodgy home video camera, with an edit of a third goal v Sheffield Utd the following week:

More competitive, 1.0 at HT We went 2 up just after HT,then Leeds scored two quick goals Chamberlain took it personally and scored immideately,Leeds collapsed and Stoke ran riot Pretty sure it was 6 with about 20 minutes to go Hudson orchestrated a superb keep ball session and only then did Leeds manager Bremner react,he jumped out of the dug out going nuts That's how I remember it anyway ,not looked it up, perhaps I've got bits wrong There was no footage and given it was an all ticket 11:30 KO (yup 11:30) the crowd was tiny All this after 84-85 only 3 games in gave Mills a lot of credit in the bank I think most of us thought we would go straight through to Div 4 like Wolves were doing

John Mahoney playing for Boro, not long after he moved from Stoke.

The 5 2 was better than the 7 2 That was a really good Sheff U team , yep Though Stoke finished 8th, above Sheff U on goal difference (+10 : +1). That was despite Stoke winning only 4 of the last 16 games after beating Palace (to go into fourth place) and featuring on Sports Night as a contender for the first ever season of playoffs. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1986–87_Stoke_City_F.C._season

I thought beating them was the moment. Pen seem to remember and Sportsnight finished with it in their feature Did they have Wright and Bright up top?

Could have been, as Bright signed for them a few months prior and Wright was already there. Remember, them both playing at Stoke in this FA Cup match: www.11v11.com/matches/stoke-city-v-crystal-palace-07-january-1989-216044/

Sheff U had a really good winger They did, Colin Morris on the right, he got both their goals. Looked dangerous everytime he had the ball At the time they also had Beagrie on the left but for whatever reason he wasnt playing that day.
