He was a "proper" centre half of the old school.
Towards the end of his career he moved to Tranmere and in the FA Cup 4th Round replay at The Vic in January 1972, Mike Bernard did something to annoy him on the touchline in front of The Boothen stand. Yeats laid Bernard out cold with a single punch and just walked off up the tunnel.
RIP

The only player to mind who was as mean was Micky Droy of Chelsea

Colossus RIP
As the old Everton song goes
Oh we hate Bill Shankly And we hate St John But most of all we hate Big Ron And we'll hang the Kopites one by one On the banks of the Royal Blue Mersey So to hell with Liverpool and Rangers too We'll throw them all in the Mersey And we'll fight fight fight With all our might For the lads in the Royal Blue Jersey

I remember watching him play for Liverpool. But my best memory was watching him at Tranmere, when he was player-manager in the FA Cup. We drew that game, and in the replay I saw him sent of early doors. Big man, big character.

One of my favourite footballing stories is when Ron Yeats signed for Liverpool bill shankly told the press that we have signed a colossus ,a man mountain and you can come to the changing rooms and walk around him if you want to 😁

At half-time fans were asked if they were changing ends, not to walk across the pitch.
