I’ve just managed to stop playing it again after being on it for 2 months, it really is a hard habit to kick once you start. Reading some of the posts above I feel like this could develop into some kind of AA meeting for FM addicts. When lockdown happened, I downloaded FM to see what all the fuss was about. 72 hours later, amidst very little sleep, I canned it off before it ruined me forever. It’s the 1 more game before bed that gets you. Or if I was struggling , I would see that our next 5 fixtures are against teams in the bottom half so I would convince myself that this is when our season would turn around.

I've got no idea why I did it, I'm slightly ashamed of it (but proud at the same time because it's mental) and I slept for about 18 hours afterwards before opening the game up again 😂 FM12 is the most I've ever played any single game. According to Steam, I logged 4687.8 hours against it. FM22 is on 2057.2 hours at the moment. It really does take over your life if you're not careful.

I think it was the one more game before bed thing. The last time I got so addicted to a game was W1P3OU7 on the PS2. I would go to bed and I could replay the whole game, every twist and turn in my head. I knew it was getting bad when I could do the same thing with the unlocked reverse tracks that you were rewarded with for getting gold and time records in all the others. Utterly mental.

When my noobs turn up each year, I ask for a show of hands from the gamers. Your can tell them a mile off from the bags under their eyes even though they're barely old enough to vote and make their own tea. Week One: "limit your gaming." Week Two: "you look exhausted and it's only half ten in the morning." Week Three: "Seriously. Get some sleep, your critical thinking has turned to shit."

Sounds about right 😂 There's no way I could do it now, I struggle to stay awake past 10pm now thanks to being in my mid 30s.

I played it for 15 minutes last night. 4 hours later.
Just so bloody addictive.
Can’t bring myself to be anyone but Stoke.

I've been playing it for years but last few years I've been playing the mobile version on my Tab.
I can literally play hours on end on it and just lose days.
If they took it away I'd probably have to start interacting with the wife again.

Decided to play FM24 this weekend as the missus and kids were away so thought I’d have a right binge. It was Filthy, forgot I needed to eat, drink, and wash and managed to take Dover to the semi finals of the play offs of the National South. But that took two full days to play one season. Would like to play more, but can’t justify the time.

Never played FM other than mobile version which is very similar to Champ Manager. All I've noticed is there is a massive reliance on Speed, Stamina and Strength over and above any other stats. Did TP help the game developers?

Played every single one of them. Extremely addicting.
I remember in my Championship Manager 4 save I got Ed De Goey on a free after Chelsea released him. 2 weeks later he signed for Stoke in real life. I remember thinking I was some genie or something.
In January that season I had El Hadji Diouf on loan from Liverpool and that's when I knew I wasn't a genie.
What always made me laugh was during the FMs where we had Crouchy, his pace stat was always 14 out of 20 🤣.
They did our players dirty in FM24. Million is slow, junho has the stats of a National league player. Mmaee is unreal though.

Always used to frustrate me when if I was winning 1-0 you would get around 5 minutes extra time, but if your opponent was 1-0 up you had 1 minute extra or 2 at most.
In 24 they have leave our new players short. Million slow, Junho extra slow , Viktor is dodgy to say the least, but Bonham plays like an in form Gordon Banks. Cannon is having a great run in my game with 10 from 12 starts. Moran is a class free kick taker, while Koumas is improving all the time. Gallagher seems to be a good aerial threat. And Seko can get them on target from 30 yards so looking quite interesting for now.

Vanarama North!? Stop being a tart, get a custom DB that adds teams/leagues down to Level 14 in the English pyramid and get yourself in the Staffordshire County Senior League Division Two North. Fuck that try and win the prem when Haaland keeps scoring 90 goals a season and it’s physically not possible to beat Liverpool ever, no matter what I do even if they put out a reserve team in the Caraboa cup. That’s what I’m going through at the minute on mine. I battered Milan in the champions league 5-0 then played the same team same tactics against Liverpools second team and lost 6-2 after being 6-0 down and the tears missed a penalty. Had similar as could absolutely batter Rangers but first couple of seasons could never beat Celtic. The most annoying part of the game though, and can call it a mile off, is the team got that advanced they could also just pump Celtic by the third season. However, after coming back from an away win in the Champions League routinely lost against absolute shit like Ross County. Their guy who averages 6.2 suddenly scores three and bollocks like that!

Stuff happening in real world football that has already happened on Championship/Football Manager is an absolute mindfuck

Got the free download and 6 hours later Blyth Spartans are a solid 2nd in the National League North after 8 games. Transfer budget of £8. JJ Hooper is already a hero; although I feel like a zombie. 😂

I don't have a problem playing this game too much. I definitely don't have a problem. Leave me alone.

Try playing as Chivas in the Mexican first division. Can only sign Mexican players
Edit: Apparently this is no longer the case. Shame that.
