Anyone use this. I haven't played it since it was Championship Manager so thought I'd give it a wack as it was only 18 quid. Downloaded the up to date transfers and a couple of tactics and fired it up. Have to say it's not going to plan but im sure I'll start picking up regular results. My top scorer is Cannon with 4 in 4 played so might just need a few tweaks. Anyone else going at it .

I've been clean from FM for 9 years now.
Have to say though, if you play FM and don't start with a conference club you're doing it wrong.

Fm 24 is free on Thursday on the epic games store I've not used that before. Is it only free for a certain timeframe and then you'd need to purchase at the end of that window?

Fm 24 is free on Thursday on the epic games store I've not used that before. Is it only free for a certain timeframe and then you'd need to purchase at the end of that window? Everythursday you get a free game from epic it’s yours until epic games shuts down which with how much they make of Fortnite will be a good few years lol. It’s just free not on the subscription model like gamepass where fm24 is available at the moment but will go off in a few weeks if it’s anything like last year.

Kicked the habit just before Covid.. weird timing considering i was about to spend a few months in doors but wasn't tempted to go back. It can really consume your life 😅

I still play it but not like I used to.
Since I became a dad I basically have to wait for everyone to go to bed before I get chance to have a proper go or get one of those lucky days where the Mrs is at work on my day off.

We’ve talked about it quite a bit on the games part of this board. I love it. The amount of time I spend on it each year is quite frankly embarrassing to most but I couldn’t care. If you need a little help check out Knap’s tactics www.fmscout.com/f-knap-tactics-for-fm24.html

I kicked the habit around the time I got married as I preferred sexual intercourse (just). During Covid got into it again but only on the mobile as that was more like the earlier versions of the game and didn't take about an hour play two matches. Took Dundee United to domestic and European glory over a decade before noticing I hadn't sex for a while so put it down again.
Weird experience at my wee lass's football awards night as Chris Mochrie was presenting the kids their trophy and bizarrely I was a bit star struck. He'd not really done much for United and left shortly after for Dunfermline but for my team he was a fucking home grown genius. There was even a split second where I was still sulking with him about buggering off AC Milan on a free because he wouldn't sign a contract before I realized it's just a game you dick.

So, the real question is: do you prefer playing as a "one club man" or the deceitful "take every opportunity jumping to a better club when they come knocking"?
I prefer the latter. Mostly because chairmen suck in FM

How's the sexual intercourse going? Not as well as my Dundee United trilogy of Champions League successes. Feels like another season of transition and going be a bit of a slog through winter but we'll see - really can't afford to be relegated though!

Fuck that try and win the prem when Haaland keeps scoring 90 goals a season and it’s physically not possible to beat Liverpool ever, no matter what I do even if they put out a reserve team in the Caraboa cup. That’s what I’m going through at the minute on mine. I battered Milan in the champions league 5-0 then played the same team same tactics against Liverpools second team and lost 6-2 after being 6-0 down and the tears missed a penalty.

The thing that turned me off it were the Press Conferences. How annoying are they?
Or did I miss a trick by not being able to bin them?
I got into trying to get non-league sides up the ladder. Got Shepshed Dynamo 5 promotions (or was it 6?) into League One and a League Cup Quarter Final v Arsenal but then ran out of steam! Takes up too much time.

Never really had those issues but I'm still on FM22 so not sure if you're having those issues on FM23 or FM24. On FM22 I've always played the same tactics I built (4-1-2-2-1) and load the team up with players that have higher physical stats (especially pace) and that seems to do the trick. It's rare I have a striker that bangs anymore than 40 in but goals are spread throughout the team which I like.

Only Press Conferences I ever do is when I first join a club or the one that comes just after the draw for Champions League groups takes place, anything else I get my Assistant Manager to handle. Word of warning for anyone that isn't aware, the upcoming FM25 will be a completely new page in the FM story with a massive reworking taking place, and I've gotta say judging by the initial screenshots I've seen it looks fucking horrible, it's like it's some generic game that's been made for a tablet. Hopefully the PC editor guys can work their magic & get it looking somewhat like what we're used to, but if they can't then this free version of FM24 could be well worth getting.

It can really consume your life 😅 I stopped a couple years ago and too scared to load it back up because of how much time I’d spend on it. Fairly sure the next FM has huge changes/improvements to the game ‘like never before’ apparently. So maybe I’ll have to test that out and get back to being an addict.

Never played FM other than mobile version which is very similar to Champ Manager.
All I've noticed is there is a massive reliance on Speed, Stamina and Strength over and above any other stats.

I’ve just managed to stop playing it again after being on it for 2 months, it really is a hard habit to kick once you start.
Reading some of the posts above I feel like this could develop into some kind of AA meeting for FM addicts.

I pissed the league on my last season on it and won the champions league as well but in three games against The scousers in domestic comps I lost by a combined 18-4 score line. In the champions league I won 11-3 over two legs. I just despise them in the league in 9 seasons against them I’ve won one and drawn one league game. I genuinely dread playing them.

Reading some of the posts above I feel like this could develop into some kind of AA meeting for FM addicts. When lockdown happened, I downloaded FM to see what all the fuss was about. 72 hours later, amidst very little sleep, I canned it off before it ruined me forever.
