My only gripe about today was our woeful set pieces. Most of them drifted out of play, the rest didn’t look threatening at all, easily cleared by defenders. I miss a bullet header from a corner.

And which of the players in the team we had yesterday is likely to produce a bullet header from a corner? Maybe Wilmot and er, er, er........?

Yeah I’m not saying we have anyone who can do that, just reminiscing about goals from corners and set pieces. We haven’t looked a threat for ages.

I think we gave up on set piece goals several years ago.
We had a corner 4 minutes from the end of the Albion game and no one even bothered to cheer. It’s telling, it means the support don’t think it’s worth cheering anymore.
We may be a small team by championship standards but to not bother with the 20-30 goals a season that a physical or even a well drilled team would score is negligent.

Is it really worth having junior do those fairly feeble long throws every time? It’s a bit 2008 isn’t it

Do we have a set piece coach? Seems to be de rigeur in the Prem nowadays.
As said above, seems negligent not to at least try something to up our return. Phillips and Gibson are massive.

Headers rarely go in from corners. I think we should test out hockey style corners, when the ball is razzed in towards the D on the edge of the box to be met by someone with a foot like a traction engine to twat it towards the goal.

They should introduce that where all the defenders have to stand behind the goal line! Also instead of a kick off, like water polo, they should have a race to reach the ball from the goal line to the centre cirtle!

I thought Gallagher did quite well whilst here as the so called set piece coach but since Kavanagh has taken the role on it’s not threatening at all.I suppose you could argue the lack of height may have something to do with that

Not just set pieces but can anyone remember the last time we scored a headed goal in the league?
Anderson got one at Carlisle but I genuinely can’t remember the last time we scored one in the league.

Very good question that🤔 Rose at Middlesbrough would be my guess Did McNally score with his head at Preston?

I don’t think McNally’s goal at Preston was a header, I seem to remember the ball just hitting him and trickling in. So it was October last year then, pretty mental that.

All our players seem to have square heads when it to scoring from a corner or free kick into the box.

Don't they know you cannot be offside from a throw in. If goes back and across and back again. You could have Millions standing on the goal line and a throw down the line. It immediately sends the team down the pitch.

If we want to do high-intensity footie, we'd be better off taking the throw-ins quickly. At least make one player come short for an option!
