The squad is a bit young. Physically, I think there’s a real chance we will get bullied in certain games. We’ve left ourselves a bit exposed on the right hand side of defence so I can see us conceding lots of goals unfortunately. we still have Pearson to come back mate,,still think he could do a job,

Aren’t you forgetting Gallagher? It’s very easily done because he sticks out like a sore thumb 🤣 You really are unfair on Gallagher how can you have that opinion on him when he’s only played 29mins in a friendly. Give him a chance

Squad is looking good individually, much more like it. Concerned with full back options as right back in particular is looking threadbare but there’s enough to work with to get this squad into play off contention if the manager sticks to his self proclaimed principles. Get those shackles off Shuey and let the opposition worry about us. We really need to just let full backs be full backs now. With the attacking talent we have we don't need 'em in the opposing half. If Schumacher goes all galaxy brain I'll be hopping mad. Playing it absolutely safe should see us flying up the table.

Give him a chance I don’t want to watch him given all the other options? Quite simple really. Only Ennis is below him for who I want to watch in the options named (Ennis wasn’t named I know🤣). Not sure why I’d feel any other way given that?

Excellent opening post Bayern and objective.
It’ll be a shame when this thread descends into the usual to and fro about where players deserve to be ranked within the squad.

Johansson Bonham Fielding Junior Philips Gibson Bocat Gooch Wilmot Rose Stevens Lawal Burger Moran Thompson Seko Sidibe Pearson Manhoef Cannon Junho Koumas Gallagher Vidigal ————Mmaee ————Tezgel Actually ended really well balanced bar one more attacker than is ideal but even then Vidigal could go. Johansson Phillips Gibson Lawal Moran Cannon That’s the spine significantly strengthened with Seko, Gallagher, Bocat and of course Koumas. Pretty good window for me….touch wood.

Yeah when you look at it like that and this (below) it’s hard to disagree. Johansson vs Iversen - I like both Gibson vs McNally - Gibson all day every day Philips vs Rose - bit soon but Philips looks like he could be proper Lawal vs Laurent - he can’t be any worse Moran vs Cundle - he just looks a bit classier Cannon vs Campbell - Campbell was hated here, had to go. It’s a big upgrade

I quite like the squad, bar right back. I think we're weak in that area.

Mmaee... there's a good player in him as long as he stays on the rails. Let's see how he performs with better players around him.

I think we'll end up with a team on the pitch that will be very up and down. Will get results and performances against certain sides, sides that might surprise us but get absolutely walloped by others.
The key will be the fitness and form of Gibson and Gallagher for the experience balance to the kids and also Bosun for the raw physicality that we lack all over the park.
We have some very talented footballers at our disposal though, so when we hit our stride we should be very difficult to handle.

It’s a decent squad for sure and we should see some very entertaining football and hopefully winning football. My 2 concerns 1-the lack of height & physicality in the team will be a problem against a lot of sides 2-The right back position which in my opinion every team will target

Height? The best XI will have Junior, Philips, Gibson, Lawal and Burger in. They’re all fucking massive aren’t they? And right back is solved if the manager stops overthinking it.

The manager needs to stop the inverted nonsense and just let them play. Attack when it feels right and defend otherwise. Just play simple.

It’s a big upgrade Johansson has had a mixed start but did look more assured v Boro. I think it’s really important that he’s a perm after last years Travers debacle. Philips’s height and Spurs upbringing will hopefully show Lawal - time will tell, but sounds more a traditional DM with physical presence….Laurent generic midfielder IMO Moran you’re right looks classier….and straight away. With Cundle we only saw his true potential in his last half dozen games. Cannon, I just hope he’s ready and firing from the off. Johnson, Laurent and Baker shown the door….all of which could have been problems in the dressing room if they weren’t playing given their strong personalities. Koumas and the second seasons of Million, Junho and Burger could be very good indeed. May take a few weeks for everyone to bed in but we should see strong mid table by Christmas. If we don’t then ST4 is well and truly cursed. Like what I’m seeing from SS…now time to walk the walk
