Ill nail my flag to the mast here, just for posterity and people can say what an idiot I am later in the season.
It does look like we have some real talent signed in this window, with promising youngsters of pace and creativity. So yeah we could be in for some nice football games to watch this season.
However I have a feeling we are gonna be too nice to play against. We dont really have any hard brutes in defence/midfield or attack.
I guess the players people will mention are:
Gibson/Lawal/Gallacher.
ok fair enough, but the rest looks to me a bit lightweight if not lacking in technical ability.
I dont disagree with the approach of Shumacher and this is clearly his approach based on his Plymouth team.
I just get the feeling we might look really good in some games, and just get beat up in other more physical games which are commonplace in the Championship.
Shit Bin if wanted, I dont wanna put everyone on a downer. I just have a worry at the back of my mind based upon the first few games this season and the players we have brought in the transfer window.

I’m assuming the idea is to play around the cloggers.
It’s a valid concern though.

I think the best midfield will be Burger Lawal Moran
Height won’t be an issue.
Lawal can hopefully put his frame around unlike his predecessor.
Philips is a big lad as well. No idea how strong he is but you’d hope he can deal with it given his size.
And tbh up front I’d rather we passed our way around the farmers you get at CB in this league than go head to head with them. It never made any sense to do that.

Once Pearson is fit, even if he only plays ten minutes, he’ll get enough kicks and fouls in to even it out.
With the pace and movement we’ve got now we might need a bit of protection from the refs. Sadly the inconsistency in them it’s hard to imagine we’ll get that.

The best teams always have a good mix. Hopefully we’ll have that, this season.

Its like when West Brom of Tony Mowbray used to turn at Stoke and get bullied into an easy win for us.
Where is the battle and fight going to come from??
I think we will need Gallacher / Lawal / Gibson in the majority of games

It was the strangest of things but he’d misjudge it every time and get under it. If it’s a similar thing it can be coached out like it was with Souttar.

Junho actually is imo a demon tackler and a tough fucker.

Manhoef is a stocky fucker and his old man was a literal kickboxer and I’ve seen Junho on the receiving end of some absolute horror show tackles and he just got up with a grin on his face. It’s a myth that we don’t have strong players.

Get Bobby Ball alongside Tommy Cannon. He was a bit of a headcase if I remember

Think we will have a few Watfords but hopefully a few more Middlesbroughs this season. Indeed thats how I see it. When its good we are gonna score a few. When its bad we are gonna lose by a few. Hopefully more of the good than the bad. But is Shumacher being a little bit naive thinking he can pass it around every team in the league? Hes not really hedging his bets is he
