I have completed a trilogy of Stoke experiences with my family. The first experience was the first time I was able to take my boys to watch Stoke. I am sure anybody’s first time taking their kids to the match is a poignant one. Mine was all the more so as the kids were born when I was in my mid 40s,having resigned myself to not being a Dad. I posted on here about having a tear in my eye. Moving forward, in the last year of the Prem years, my boys were mascots in the game against Brighton. Tears in both eyes followed. This was especially poignant as health concerns meant this was an event I might never had seen. We also live near Brighton, the boys have adopted their Dads passion for all things Stoke City and school was interesting with the Brighton fans and the glory hunters and the two, stand out Stoke fans. To my immense pride, the boys have not only maintained their support for Stoke, but have also adopted their Dads obsession. Today, me, my long suffering and supportive wife, plus my amazing boys, watched the game in hospitality in the Waddington Suite to celebrate my 60th Birthday. As an experience it was an amazing , if expensive one. The club looked after us well and ai got to talk with SJW amongst others and for the first time in 20 years, one of my all time heroes, TC. No tears in my eyes today as my boys are no longer kids, but at 15 and 16, they are now young men. I count myself very lucky that I can celebrate my 60th birthday with the four loves of my life, my wife, my two boys and Stoke City football club. As we make the 4 hr journey home back to Plumpton, I realise ai am truly blessed. Others will, quite rightly have their say on the performance and result today. My boys( not the ones in red and white) continue to make my day. I can only hope that next time the boys in red and white will do too. Sometimes I need to be reminded to count my blessings
