Just had a tooth out, so having a bit of soup diet today.. now I don’t really eat soup, but I’ve just had a tin of big soup (chicken and veg) which was pretty damn good! Now gone in for a carrot and coriander, really nice! Thinking about it I’ve only ever tried the above, tomato and mushroom… So what are people’s favourites?

Try making your own. Very easy to do. Any veg in the bottom of the fridge near its sell by date and you are away.

In terms of tinned soups. Oxtail is elite tier. Scotch broth right up there too. Minestrone as well. For homemade soup I love a lentil soup. This recipe here isn't a bad base - www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/lentil-bacon-soupI use bacon instead of panceta. Or better still I use some gammon and the stock left over from slow cooking it for my stock.

My favourite when I was a kid, not seen it for years. Like all the Baxters ones really, don’t like big thick lumpy stuff. Their cock-a-leakie is nice as well. Cross and Blackwell broccoli and stilton is another winner

Very beefy in taste with little small bits of what I presume to be ox tail which just takes like beef too. Always been a favourite of mine as its so flavoursome unlike some soups which can be a bit watery.

Broccoli Soup.
Fry a chopped onion, add crushed garlic to taste (or not)
Chop up Broccoli, stalks and all add to onion and add veg or chicken stock
Simmer for 10/15 mins. Blend and then add grated cheese, Stilton, Cheddar or what's in the fridge.
All these ingredients can be left overs or partly used.
Easy and delicious.😀

Cross and Blackwell broccoli and stilton is another winner Cock o Leekie. Is that the soup or the "niche" adult practice? Both can be slightly messy. Or so I'm told. By a friend. Back on topic. Agree with some of the comments above. Home made soup more or less makes itself. Infinitely better than tinned. And cheaper.

Try Heinz Tomato Cup a Soup with a tea spoon full of Boveril in a good size mug. Stir well.😀 I get tonsillitis with unreasonable frequency and make tomato cup a soup with a full teaspoon of black pepper mixed in a staple diet for a few days, completely numbs it for a while

Aldi's Bramwell brand of vegetable & beef, chicken or lamb is very decent and add a few new spuds and you have a very cheap nutritious meal.

Apart from Gawas lentil soup bollocks (World of Twist quote soon)
