Just had a quick gander at the new rules coming in. I like the 30 second clock stoppage before kick off after a goal. Could be interesting as the scoring team shag each other or perform their stupid celebration routines, in the meantime the other team race to kick off and score before the celebrating team know what’s happening. Could be fun though if celebrating team hide the ball and take the usual 3 minutes of celebrations. VAR rules being tweaked to cut down on stoppage times with more emphasis on the on field referees decision and the annual fuckwittery with handball rules.

How does the 30 second clock stoppage thing work? I could look it up, but I'm just helping expand the discussion

No problem - Adebayor could run the pitch-length and back in that time...

Currently the clock stopped immediately the goal is scored until the opposition kicks off.

I've missed that then 🤔 The ref stops his watch when the goal is scored and restarts it at kick-off, time which is then added at the end of the game. Now they're allowing 30 seconds of game time to pass after a goal is scored before stopping their watch (for some reason)

I just had a quick scan of the actual IFAB rule changes.. probably the most significant are that non-deliberate handball in the box no longer results in a yellow card, and that encroachment rules on penalties have been relaxed. Encroachment will now only be punishable if that player subsequently impacts the game, e.g. by challenging for the rebound.

Now they're allowing 30 seconds of game time to pass after a goal is scored before stopping their watch (for some reason) They’re trying to decrease stoppage time apparently. So if 4 goals are scored there’ll be 2 minutes less stoppage time. Be much better if they just allowed 30 seconds of stoppage time after the goal and allow the opposition to kick off even if the celebrating players aren’t lined up ready to go. That would be ace to see the ball sail into the net as they still celebrate in the corner.

I have read to day that the premier league is going to stop blocking and shirt pulling.I wonder it this is going to filter it down to the championship.Do we remember that they did this for us in the first match of the season (think it was Shawcrossgave a penalty away )then after that never saw light of day in any match after that.
