£12Mil for Afobe, £10mil for Tom Ince & £6Mil for Sam Clucas! Jeez, forget the best player, we've wasted an absolute shed load of money. £28mil on them three alone! 🫣🙄😬 Amd wimmer was that and some for just the one player. Fook me we have been more than clueless 😔 Ah please don't start me on Wimmer, I was trying to stick to the Championship era 🫣😤 . Wimmer and Imbula were just... look you've started me, I'll park that there! 😉 As the Championship purchases alone were just a continuation of the madness that already started in the Prem!

Imagine if we had been a little bit more diligent in our transfer policy. Spunking 10s of millions on dross shouldn't be possible. If you spend 10m on a player it has to be a certainty of success for a club our size. At some point the club lost control of its transfer policy. Wimmer was non sensical. Berahinho to risky Imbula to risk for a club our size for the fee On relegation Clucas The Irish guy from wba Afobe Ince We're all poor investments for the size of outlay. Hate to think what wages you give someone you pay these sums for. Absolutely disgusting tbh.

Michael O’Neill was a brilliant appointment at the time. The man performed miracles.
In terms of players, we didn’t make a good signing until he was here. Brown was a good signing. Jordan Thompson ultimately a good signing.
He also brought in some clangers mind. Dwight Gayle!
And Ricky Martin was a pariah (rightfully so) but he had the foresight to appoint a progressive recruiter like Jared Dublin and for that alone he would’ve made this club many millions of pounds.
Bae and Million!

Probably one of the two at Luton o neil did a good job all things considered He also signed fletcher and our current starting cm Set us on the road to a sensible player trading policy that now seems to be on it's third regime. We very rarely spend money on players who aren't likely to have resale value nowadays. Sometimes having "too much money" just makes you stupid with what you do with it.

Brown was a good honest hard working pro and did a job. But nothing more than that really. These 3 have come in and shown some real class at times and will definitely get better. All subjective though of course..

Jeez, forget the best player, we've wasted an absolute shed load of money. £28mil on them three alone! 🫣🙄😬 We definitely just went out and signed as many reasonably well known players as we could that summer, with no thought whatsoever into how they would fit into a squad. I dare say it’s the memory of that that has so many people jumpy about how many midfielders we have. (If we don’t sell a couple then I’m not sure I can take a club so unwilling to learn from mistakes any more 😂)

Who's been our best signing since relegation from the prem? I think Nick Powell is up there for me Below are a few gems from the first championship years, post-prem. Tommy Smith Liam Lindsay James Chester Cameron Carter-Vickers Stephen Ward Adam Davies Jordan Cousins Nick Powell Lee Gregory Jordan Thompson Mark Duffy Scott Hogan Moritz Bauer Benik Afobe Tom Ince Sam Vokes Ryan Woods Peter Etebo Sam Clucas James McClean Danny Batth Adam Federici Benik Afobe Ryan Woods Cuco Martina Ashley Williams Harry Souttar Geoff Cameron Ryan Sweeney Ever likely we are still in the championship. At least we have players /manager that can do it

The only person in years who has managed to bring in players we will make a comfortable profit on was let go almost as quick as he came.

Profit pov - Brown.

Has to be Tuanzebe for me, long time since we have seen that sort of quality in central defence and he only played a few games for us and that after a long time out with injury.
Not sure what happened with us signing him, but we missed the boat there - could have been a rock at the back and some type of platform to build other quality around

He definitely had quality but Junho and Manhoef are serious pros and seem to be much more disciplined and driven to improve. Powell would just stroll round some games and do things in bursts, maybe he was carrying injuries, but he never reached his full form consistently. We have yet to see the new boys hit their full potential, but they will soon be stepping up a level when they do.

Are we allowed loan signings in this thread?

Can't believe the club aren't selling "I saw Frankie Fielding play for Stoke" T-shirts to be honest.
