Pulis Sr?
Something in the back of my mind says we had a father son duo maybe in the 1940s? I'm not sure.

Gudjon Thordarson.
Wikipedia says he played 212 games for ÍA Akranes (and obviously managed us for a few years) and we had two of his sons play for us (Bjarni and Thordur).

I guess they can make up the numbers but they'd bring the quality of the side down a few notches

Wasn't Alan Hudson's son on the books? Not sure if he ever made the first team.

Doesn't qualify, but wasn’t Dave Regis’ uncle, Cyrille? Related to athlete John, too.

If you are still short of a defender, goes back a bit, but you could have Harry Sellars, father of Johnny Sellars.
Harry played 394 and Johnny 413 games for Stoke.
Can't be too many father & son combinations where both played around 400 games for the same club?

If not restricting this thread to Stoke(?), then the Maldinis of AC Milan (Cesare and Paolo) - 347 and 647

On the subject of Sammy Mc, I seem to remember that he played in the same team / eleven as his son, for Bury.
I might be talking rubbish, but I’m sure I read or heard it somewhere, years ago…. How often has that happened? 🤷🏼♂️
