I have always wondered why some of the posters I most enjoyed reading on here (Old Stokie, Fornside, Dave, PhilR et al) slowly post less and less and then just stop. Not that I was ever a great poster, but now that I'm getting up there in age, I have realized the answer .... it just takes sooooo much energy to try and keep an even keel. Reading the majority of posts on here anyone would swear we are either the worst team in the world with a bunch of trained worms developing strategy or that Stoke is a gift to the world that very few of us deserve to be allowed to support.
As I have already started my transition to occasional dropper-in (deleted my former pre-rivals username), I'll leave you with one basic philosophy: Be kind (or at least tolerant) to your fellow Stokies!
We all support the same team
We all want us to do better, no matter how well we're currently doing
Tons of people out there hate everything about Stoke, especially its fans. There is no need for us Stokies to constantly run each other and/or the club down.
Things are never as black (or as rosy) as attention-seeking extremists like to make out.
And with that, I doff my hat and look forward to some scintillating Stoke chatter in my role of lurker.

What was your old rivals name? Mind you if you go back that far you must have one or two old Proboards names too. Well Rivals ended in December 2007, shortly before we beat Sheffield United 3-0. That's coming up to 17 years ago. There's plenty of scope for loads of people to have come and gone and changed user name etc. And some would have no idea about rivals or fenetre. |

Then registered for proboards in 2021 and went on to make over 10,000 posts my senses tell me there was something in between but that's his business really I wouldn't have mentioned it if he hadn't mentioned rivals. I've got no room to talk about anyone's posting history or what their name was when they posted it. |

People come and go. In general I think the tone and quality of debate on here is way better than it used to be. There are exceptions but the board has grown up as we have.

I've posted on and off over many years, thought not a prolific poster, but much less so in the last few. This is largely down to the at some times confrontational nature of the posting that goes on. I get different opinions but at the end of the day we are all Stokies and it really does not come across like that at times. No doubt someone will have a go at me for saying that |

Five or six years ago some of the posting was very toxic with bitter arguments about anything.
I think admin had a sought out and people disappeared but may have re registered with different names.
For me it is the primary source of information about SCFC although I probably don't post as often as I used to.
