Always the same problems : no goalscorer, no effective game plan, lot of players unfit, lot of injuries already, weakness on defensive set pieces etc.. so usual business : painful season, hopeless from end of october and a relegation always closer. Somewhere between 18 and 23.

After all the talk of re-sets and new beginnings, I’ll only be satisfied with a top half finish. Not expecting play-offs but want to see some progress. Anything less than that and it will show we’ve learnt nothing again and we’re stagnating ever further. Fingers crossed that I’m no Mick Jagger and can’t get no satisfaction!

But is realistic with what we have. Tbh if we didn’t make another signing, we’d be relegation candidates. 4 good signings for the first team makes us midtable.

I'm probably in a minority of 1 but I'm not sure I even want promotion. The thought of getting utterly battered most weeks wouldn't fill me with glee in the slightest.

No one should be ‘satisfied’ with anything less than a playoff place. Failing that, anything above the relegation zone will suffice.

I think anything less than a top half finish would be a total failure. It is a disgrace that we haven't had a top half finish in the last 6 years. I haven't watched many of the preseason games so I probably don't feel as negative as many of you, but perhaps it might not be a bad thing if fans expectations are low.

I don't think better than top 12 is unrealistic with the squad we have right now, but with a few good additions you never know.

after the early signings I'd have said top half, as the squad currently stands I'd be happy with 18th.

Trying to reserve judgement until the window closes but we look so short and lacking in depth in the top part of the pitch and at centre half.

With the current state of the squad, I'd be happy with 14th provided we see some improvement in the football, we develop the squad with some players we actually own rather than relying on loans, and Schumacher is still in charge for the following season. I really don't want to see us replacing the manager year again towards the end of the calendar year and going through yet another reset.
