Is it because most if not all the team would be English players,so the Scots & Welsh, don't want anything to do with it?

I think so.
The women do it (if they qualify) why don’t the men?

Might set a precedent for other competitions which the individual countries don’t want. Not a privelige we want to lose.

I thought it was to do with the 4 national leagues. If the GB entered a team FIFA might not continue the national federations. I'm sure it was summat to do with that.

No, Olympics is about amateur sport, sports like tennis, golf, football, basketball have their place elsewhere.
It's the only time I'm interested in pommel horse, clay pigeon shooting, diving or rythem gymnastics, and for the good of these athletes it's there chance to shine

No sport should be included in the Olympics when the Olympics isn’t the pinnacle of the sport. For track and field, it is those competitor’s pinnacle event. Same with swimming / weight lifting / Etc.
Tennis = Wimbledon. Golf = the masters Cycling = TdF
They shouldn’t be in the Olympics because not even the players are that arsed about it.
For football, it’s about 12th. You’d rather win the Papa John’s.

But when he started his career, the Olympics wouldn’t have been on his top 3 list of things to win. I doubt the Olympics is really that important to some competitors, but the sport specific tournaments will be massive.

The only tennisman to do that I think But you’re not too sure, because it’s not that big of a deal in tennis. Wimbledon Roland garros French Open US Open Australian Open All more of an achievement for tennis players. I love the Olympics, but what is the point of shoehorning in stuff like rugby 7’s?

Our boat for the opening ceremony was to small to fit a football team on.

It's not an yes or no answer it's to do with football governance at the moment as England Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland we get 4 fifa votes Wales Scotland n Ireland see that if we do this on a regular bases they will lose there national teams and votes in other fifa competitions England women tried to qualify for paris as the nominated team through the nations league but despite being world Cup finalists and European champions because of the quota system on European teams and France taking 1 as hosts they would have had to be 3rd or better unfortunately they fell short

I doubt the Olympics is really that important to some competitors, but the sport specific tournaments will be massive. I agree certain sports (football, golf) aren’t needed but I’ll stick up for tennis here, the Olympics/tennis is a big thing for the players involved. You only had to look at the influence of tennis on the opening ceremony last night with Nadal, Serena Williams and Amélie Mauresmo all being among some of the last torch bearers. Andy Murray choosing to end his career at the Olympics rather than Wimbledon must surely tell you how big the Olympics are for him. Novak Djokovic wants Olympic gold this time around more than any other tournament this year, his year has been focused on it. You don’t hear these stories from football or golf when it comes to the Olympics!

The timing of the Olympics would also make it a massive pain in the arse for club football. We already suffer an annoying amount of disruptions due to international football. No more thanks.
