How the heck do you un-bookmark a thread? I bookmarked this one in error and so I get a notification each time someone trades an insult! Tap on “thread options” then tap “unbookmark”

I think Britain is a leading example in the world of how multi-culturalism can be a wonderful thing. This first point might sound facetious but it absolutely isn’t although it absolutely isn’t - where else in the world can you get a banging curry? Or Thai, or Italian, or Turkish, Greek, Caribbean, Chinese or anything else you can think of. People complain about ‘British’ food which is I think is scrumptious really but the best bit of our country is we have embraced cuisines from overseas and it a more interesting country to live in for that. Our culture and media are one of our greatest exports to the world. Last month at the greatest music festival on the planet we had British woman Dua Lipa headline, who has Albanian parents. Little Simz, one of the best sets on the Pyramid all weekend, British and of Yoruba descent. Two examples of hundred across the weekend and thousands in our music, film and television industries, which i personally think is an incredible thing. You might not agree with them politically but we have had a British/Asian Prime Minister and a British/Asian Mayor of London. Our MPs make up the most diverse parliament in the entire world. Can you imagine a Turkish/German leader in the Reichstag? A French Prime Minister of North African descent? A Mexican in the White House? The answer is no and again something we should be very proud of and celebrate. Our believed football leagues, another of our greatest exports, are the best in the world because we are open to players from overseas. Our national football team is made up of players who are descendants of immigrants, and just got to another major final. We all have friends and interact with people daily whose parents or themselves might not have been born in this country but are continually enriching our lives. Our NHS, once the envy of the world, also relies heavily on immigration. All of that isn’t to say we should tolerate current levels of immigration. We shouldn’t accept boats crossing the channel, we shouldn’t not be furious by mobs setting buses a light. Nobody should fear being called racist for calling out that sort of behaviour either (unless you are racist, you can fcuk off). There are issues around immigration in 2024 that clearly need to be addressed and addressed quickly. But never let any politician or mouthpiece on fcuking Twitter make you forget that tolerance and good will is our default in this country. That tolerance has served us throughout our recent history and makes us who we are. Don’t let the frustration of seeing that cnut with a lighter against the engine of a double decker deflect away from the millions more who have come to this country and contributed. And don’t let fishlovesoatcakes convince you there’s going to be a Civil War either

I'd say they are out of order for pushing the bullshit racist agenda Perceived, or rather implied, upset re a lack of etiquette on a message board comes across as an incredibly ludicrous thing to get on a high horse about in comparison comes across as deflection So you're saying that I push a racist agenda ? If pushing Tommy Robinson stuff absolutely

It's incredibly worrying what's happening at the moment. I believe that this will spread and race relationships will become untenable across society. I honestly don't think we're a million miles away from civil war. Rivers of blood again? It was complete Bollocks then and it's complete Bollocks now

It was complete Bollocks then and it's complete Bollocks now People are either a) too fat, b) too lazy, or c) too easily distracted, for a civil war. All the Twitter algorithm has to do is gradually change those angry immigrant stories to dog videos and they’ll be happy again. What are they going to take to war anyways, garden rakes? I hear/read people talk about civil war all the time. Have we ever had such a generally idle population that enjoys so many distractions? Do people honestly think that a greatly significant part of the country will just stop playing on social media/watching Netflix, get up off their arses and sign up to go out and start murdering people? It seems quite far fetched to me.

All I've said is talk about civil war is Bollocks You haven't understood the rules around freedom of speech as laid down by the arch defenders of freedom of speech. The main rule is if someone spouts some right wing bollocks you can't point out it's right wing bollocks because it is an inalienable right to spout right wing bollocks free from the inconvenience of someone pointing out its right wing bollocks. Get with the program.

Seems we all have form hey 👍

No I don't think he was actually. Or I wouldn't have taken it that way. However some, not me, could take it he was linking his line of thought to that of Enoch Powell which I don't think he was.
