That are been left to rot,why dont the council do them up turning them into flats,so they have a steady income that could be spent turning the City into a better place to look at & visit?

The council don't own a lot of them, so they're all left to rot. The council had to step in to demolish the dangerous frontage of Price's Teapots, as the owners were doing nothing.

They don't own them most owned by developers who want to knock them down but can't as listed buildings etc, so let them rot so they eventually fall down or set on fire suspiciously 🙄 council can't really afford the legal action to make them bring the buildings up to speck, any buildings the council do own not cost effective to turn them into living accommodation vicious circle..

i'd genuinely have no problem if they renovated the buildings considerately, but they're erasing our history with bland nothing ness.
as an aside, did anyone else see that twitter thing going on (i haven't been able to see it since) where someone did the maths and said the trent didn't need moving, and there was plenty of room to redevelop the vic?
wouldn't surprise me. Pulled the wool over Moxey's, the press and the public's eyes, so we left home, consequently st modwen got the land, and replaced it with dire housing.
they have decimated this city and our heritage.

There were more grants for the move new build stadiums got 30+% bigger grants than rebuilds plus there was funding from the EU and from the council neither of which would have occurred if we had stayed However the general point re St Modwen is spot on |

Many will recognise possibly the biggest eyesore in Plymouth, formerly the old Palace Theatre on Union Street. Bought by a dodgy Iranian businessman Manoucehr Bahmanzadeh who turned it into the Dance Academy night club. It was closed few years ago by Plymouth council because of drug dealing and anti social behaviour and now lies derelict but can’t be demolished due to its Grade 2 listing. Bahmanzadeh tried to form a Friends of Palace Theatre with the idea of getting volunteers to fix the place up for little or no cost but some of the volunteers got wise to what he was up to and called in the H&SE because of the dangerous state of the interior who promptly shut down his little scam venture.  |
