Ok, so here's the dilemma. I am buying either an xbox or ps3 shortly (when my kitty hits the target) and am on the fence on which to buy.
I have always been a playstation player and was planning on keeping the PS2 until it breaks, then buy a PS3, but myself and a mate have decided to buy the console. However, the lure of the cheaper and not much worse package of the x-box tempts me.
What do people reckon? Anyone got either, happy with it? PS3 worth the money?
Cheers

Yeh that was a bit wierd at first, but you easily get used to it and now I actually prefer the 360 paid over the PS pad

The biggest put off when i went from ps2 to xbox 360 was the controller but the truth is they're fine and even better than the playstation ones imo, trigger buttons are awesome and the pad is alot more comfortable to hold

looks like i'll be the one to disagree, i always thought the ps3 was better, possibly because i have one i might be biased, but have played on a xbox and didn't really like it as much, excpet for halo which was awesome but then metal ger solid came out for the ps3 and that is a much better game IMO

I have a PS3 and I've played on both consoles, i just prefer the PS3 though, prefer the layout of it, and the fact that you don't have to pay for online play, and if you plan on buying any blu-ray films they it's a big bonus, oh and it's got wireless internet connectivity or Wi-Fi so you don't have to buy an adapter(like on xbox) thats if you need one. There isn't much difference between the two but I've always been Playstation anyway so the choice was easy, and PS3 has Metal Gear Solid to Xbox's Halo(which is boring).

ps3 is better it doubles as a blu-ray player its wireless as standard its blutooth compatable and online play is free.
360 is good but live is £40 a year you need to buy an adapter at £60 to make it wireless and it aint blutooth compatable however games can be had for pence not pounds if you know where im coming from

Right then. The 360 has got a far better community of people playin online than the PS3 - The PS3 has a lot of catching up to do in this respect. Yes you do have to pay £35-40 to buy Xbox Live but hell its more than worth it, no filling out online registrations forms (like you have to do with MGS4), online arcade games, free downloads, free game content and much faster aswell than a PS3 (I'm talking from experience as I have both machines and find the 360 far quicker). The PS3 has the PS Store which is diabolical to navigate through - the 360's is a dream. The main games out at the moment are on both machines and both play them well. In my opinion though the game of 2008 is definitely Metal Gear Solid 4 - especially if you've played the previous Metal Gear's. It totally wipes the floor with Grand Theft Auto 4, which don't get me wrong, is a fantastic game, but soon gets very very boring. There's so much promise with the PS3, this coming out, that coming out, but Sony have yet to deliver. Whether they will by October, when a clutch of games and add ons are due to arrive, is anybody's guess - if you want to take that gamble then buy a PS3. If you want fantastic gaming right now with a huge thriving community then get a 360 (I've heard they're doing another price drop soon aswell, even more reason to get one). Which do I like the best? Well, it used to be 360, hands down, but playin MGS4 has me turning the PS3 on now instead! If its online play I want, then the 360 wins. The pro's on one machine beat the con's of the other and vice versa. So get both. Job done.

Some good points there Dee! The xbox definatly wins on live but the ps3 wins with aspects like Blu-ray. Depeneds what you want really. If you are looking for playing online and offline then you should probably get the 360 but if you like watching a lot of films and a few games then the Ps3

I know some one who has Wii an PS3 AND Xbox 360 AND an iPhone and he never sues any of them, it's stupid!!!
I prefer xbox by a mile for Quality of gameplay and live play..although the controllers are chunky, they are easy to get used to...I actually had trouble with them being smaller though since i had an original xbox!!!

I love the Xbox Controllers now ;D They fit in your hand perfectly. When ive been on a ps3 i found that your fingers got cramped up using the buttons and if your on it for a while then it starts to hurt

I find the controllers fine on both systems. Having had a PS2 since 1943, it was a bit wierd swapping to the 360 controller, but now I much prefer it over the PS3's - I think its personal choice. I really detest the colour of the 360 pad though- reminds me of an old SNES pad, very kiddy.

Id get a Ps3, you get everything you need built-in and dont have to pay for online play. Wheras with the SexBox you have to PAY for online play (as if microsoft dont make enough money) and you need to buy add-ons for dvd's and etc.Plus there arent many games you cant get on both consoles, so whichever console you buy there should be a healty selection of games.
But if you get a Ps3, try to find a 60gb version. It can play old ps2 games amongst other things and avoid the 40gb (which i have admittedly) which is basically just a box that can play Blu-Ray discs

Right then. no filling out online registrations forms (like you have to do with MGS4), Apart from Metal Gear Online i haven't came across a game which you have to fill in registration forms for online play, so lets just forget about that one. The truth is both 360 and PS3 do exactly the same thing gaming wise, it's the extra's that split them apart. And I've played on xbox live and seriously what the difference, you go online to play against other people from around the world and talk to them, which you can do on both PS3 and XBOX.

Well it looks like Sony have taken a note of what a lot of gamers want as they are including a full Trophy system (very similar to xbox's achievements) in the next update that is due tomorrow (2nd July). Don's suppose you'll be bothering with all that rubbish though Hippo??

Basically because some twat is selling £40m credits for £5 so i'm selling the secrets of how he's making that money for £5 LINKQuite simple, get 5 porches and level them up to the full level 5, then win all the amateur cup races, there should be a chrysler concept car amongst the rewards, the 5 porches get you a 50% discout on rims for this car, buy the rims and then sell them. Easy money. Anyone who wants to know specifics pm me and i'll get them.
