Three 9th place Premier League finishes are not defined as rot. If there’s any truth in Hughes wanting to go to Everton which is a small rumour I believe? Could have been around then.

Three 9th places finishes, more goals scored, less goals conceded and the post width / peno shootout away from a league cup final. It absolutely wasn't the Mark Hughes appointment, it was the fact we waited 18 months too long to sack him when it was clear it had gone stale and we needed a change.

Yep the summer of 2016 onwards. Some of the worst signings with regard to value for money ever made by the club. Some of them even dogged us into the Championship and hamstrung us for years after.

When Van Ginkel hit the post in the semi final Liverpool. Our fortunes seemed to change in that one shot missing.

Was told this by someone who worked at the training ground at the time,he said after the refusal to let him talk to Everton he signed a new contract but seem to lose interest only watching training on a Friday.

I dont think we can look at a moment in time as there were lots of poor decisions and although you can deal with a bad signing here and there and a poor appointment we made poor signing after poor signing and clearly didnt have the seige mentality that Pulis had.
If though I had to pick one moment it would be the selling of Robert Huth to Leicester for a pittance, he was replaced by Phillip Wolscheid who was nowhere near as good, then Wimmer and although Muni filled in and was decent he was often injured. Huth went on to win the league with Leiceter and our demise set in, we never learned from that and continued to move on players like Whelan and Walters (although they were getting on) and replaced with continental players who didn't have the same character. So for me it would be ridding of Huth.

Berahino has scored 4 goals in 38 matches playing for AEL Limassol (Cyprus).

Selling Huth was a terrible mistake Shawcross was never the same player without him. I also think Arnie wanting away after getting a new & improved contract really affected Hughes as the signings that followed were mostly very bad. Having said that sacking Hughes when the club did was bad timing I believe he may have just about kept us.

Hughes getting rid of Pulis's back bone and not replacing it! getting rid of Pulis's back bone was correct decision as they were all done at that level not replacing it was definitely a huge issue

I’m all for learning from mistakes
But , learning from them to avoid making the same mistakes again is impossible when football is such a mercenary world and managers are only given one stab at the role .. any stalling on an upward trajectory and the clamour from fans for them to be given their cards starts ( sometimes whilst the graph is still moving upwards )
why wallow in a pit of misery and slashed wrists ,dragging others down ..move on
people have already made their minds up and who they want to blame , they’re not going to change or even moderate their views ..they’re set in stone .. move on life’s to short
Shit happens ..learn to enjoy what you’ve got now and look to the future , not the past ..life’s too short for what ifs and maybe’s
Edit for typos

Seriously, this has to be a wind up??? For me it was the sale of N'zonzi, we never replaced him in that midfield... Then it went even further south after Arnautovic left, as skilful as he was, Choupo-Moting just wasn't another Arnie!!!

We beat Liverpool that day as well. I hate that that achievement is overlooked because we lost on penalties. We lost the first leg 1-0 and went to Anfield and beat Liverpool 1-0. What a fucking team. That was a team that was set to push onwards and upwards and the issues followed after that not before it.
