Visited yesterday a good day out although I think there were undeniable gaps in the narrative . I think information of the early days of football and its origins was lacking . Not much on the original 12 members of the Football League
I liked the early 20th century film , there was one from 1904 of a match between Blackburn Rovers v Wolves with the crowd wearing winged collars and bowler hats ( must try this at Bet 655) . Noticed smoke from a factory drifting over the match at one point , evidence of the proletarian origins of the game. If it were ever needed
The Stoke City references were a bit embarrassing , usually one the wrong side of a FA Cup giant killing act from the likes of Nuneaton or Blyth Spartans
Afterwards in the pub in the City Centre fell into conversation with a couple of Bolton Wanderer supporters who asked us the question of the most successful England manager . It’s Big Sam with a 100% record admittedly only one game . One added that you can’t find a brown envelope now at all in Bromley Cross the area of Bolton that he lives

When the museum they used to have the final league standings from the early years which was a nice way to recognise the early clubs.

Should have stayed in Preston. Why? Manchester is full of football tourists every weekend for 9 months of the year and full of other weekend tourists the whole year round. It makes total sense to have it in Manchester.

If you want something worthy that no one visits and where you've no casual passing trade put it in a North West backwater. It would be nice if it wasn't the case but it is.

Ok,but my question wasnt answered was it? Ok. Put things where they make sense. Don't put a pottery museum in Wigan, put it where most people who are interested are or are visiting. Football museum was failing at Preston so move to Manchester made sense. Should everything be in cities? No. Should you change things if they aren't working? Yes.
