I've often wondered what it's like to support a club that sacks a relatively successful manager... Was it Gary Megson the Icelanders sacked when we were top of the league?

I love how supporters of other teams have a massive opinion about clubs they don't watch.
If Birmingham had had Mowbray available they wouldn't have been relegated and Blackburn only just stayed up with Eustace in charge.

Stupid Decision. Good news for us as it disrupts a good side that would be competivive next season.
7th - First top half finish since 2016. Looking at their rcent result they score goals, beat decent sides, only lost 2 in the last 8 games (Leeds was one then Plymouth who had to win).
His comment at the weekend. "From where we've come from last season and what we've built there's a bedrock and a real foundation for us to go on and achieve in the long term for this football club."

Spent about £10 million on transfers and made some very expensive loans. The playoffs was probably seen as a minimum target and he was probably fired for failing to deliver on expectations. Not really shocking. will they be in trouble with FFP?

Potter 10/1,should be 100/1.
If we were not big enough for him,Hull have even less of a chance.

Not really shocking. I think they pushed their ffp limit a long way. Be interesting to see if the new guy gets money to spend. They could be in trouble.

Think this thread somewhat proves that it isn't just SCFC owners who show manager's too much loyalty...
Appointed to get promoted. Told from the very outset they want promotion. Spend shedloads on permanent players and expensive loans (Fabio Carvalho should be enough alone to get you into the playoffs). Doesn't even get play-offs. Sacked.
What's mental about that? An owner with ambition and eccentricity to match.

An owner with ambition and eccentricity to match. They were only promoted from League One a few years ago. Since then they have finished 19th, 15th and 7th. They spent about 12 million and the rest are loans? 7 teams spent more. I'm not sure how they compare to the rest of the league but I think their wagebill is almost midtable as well. We're in a incredibally competitive league. He'll go on to better things I'm sure. Most of the Hull fans live reaction on their websites is that it's a terrible decision.

We werent top but we were going well. As has been said, Gudjon was key to the takeover GM handled it with integrity and has only spoken highly of us since. Fair play to the man

Previous finishes means nothing though. Wouldn't be too sure re. their wage bill. They've clearly taken a risk - was talk around January time it was promotion or bust. The squad they had this year was good enough to be challenging top 6 easily. In fact breaking it down position by position it's an excellent Champo squad. Simple really. It's certainly ruthless but when you've spent so much money and employed someone under the proviso they get you promoted, it's hardly a shock said employed person gets a sack when he doesn't even get them into the playoffs.

Not really shocking. Won 3 in the last 13 I think. You can see why they did it, not that it makes much sense to me.
