Amazing win for Bingham last night and a talksport interview I actually found interesting. A bold claim from Barry Hearn saying he could sell 5,000 tickets today and currently selling 900. It's hard to argue with him.

It's hard to argue with him. I've watched a lot of the tournament so far and it was really good yesterday with both O'Sullivan and Trump being knocked out. I had heard that (surprise, surprise) the Saudis are trying to get it moved there after 2027. O'Sullivan is pushing it as he has recently signed a (no doubt very lucrative) deal to become a sporting ambassador for the Saudis. Just hope the rest of the tournament is as good as it's been so far.

Ronnie was really sporting yesterday could have potted a red to put him three ahead and probably would have beaten Bingham...but he kept telling the ref about the black rocking on it's spot so he played a safety shot when it was easier to pot the red

I don't think O'Sullivan was really at his best yesterday and Bingham played really well. It's really tight in the first semi, 4-4 between Gilbert and Wilson but I think Wilson might just win. In the other Jones has played really well so far but might lose against Bingham. I think both matches will be close.

It will be really sad if this tournament gets moved from Sheffield to Saudi which now seems likely.
Its so good for the city (and the UK generally) and there is a real buzz in Sheffield around it.
The way most players talk about the Crucible, its obvious that it is very special but money talks and this will be a wonderful tradition that will be decimated.
Ronnie just seemed to lose the plot yesterday after the door incident. Bingham just kept his cool. Its been a great tournament so far.

It's a World Championship, so I think it should rotate around the world - to places where snooker has a following. I wouldn't complain if one was in Saudi (which seems to have been rebranded from Saudi Arabia), but it'd be bad if it was there every year. It could return to The Crucible every 5 or 10 years perhaps, and The Crucible could host another major event instead (the UK Championship moves around a bit).

The Ally Pally is fantastic but it shouldn't be the only venue.

Brilliant snooker again this morning. Wilson and Gilbert now 8-8. Nothing to choose between them at the moment. One player is going to very unlucky to lose this match.

Coming to an end today. One of the few sports that is the same today as generations ago and largely unspoilt by commercialism, modern technology, endless rule changes, political correctness, etc. Quiz question: When was the snòoker world championship played in Stoke on Trent? en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1969_World_Snooker_Championship

The last frame of yesterdays evening session was incredible. I love the safety play as much as a long pot. Wilson looks like he’s got to much in his locker for Jones.

The overall standard in this final isn't the best. I suppose it's due to having the 12th (Wilson) and 44th (Jones) in the world as finalists, and no doubt nerves and pressure are having a large impact. Still an enjoyable watch though, if you like snooker. I've watched a lot of this year's championship and there's been some great snooker, and some big surprise exits. Much better than the same old names (O'Sullivan, Trump etc) getting their hands on yet another trophy. After this afternoon's session it looks like Wilson is nailed on to win it.
I just looked at tickets for next year's event which went on general sale today and nearly every session for the whole 16 days is almost entirely sold out. Tickets were £49.50 and £60.50 and the only few remaining are at £412.50 ! I didn't look at tickets prices for the final.

The one that got me was, would you get the drama you get at The Crucible in a bigger arena?

Keep it at the Crucible IMO. It showed a shot of the table from the top row of the auditorium and you could hardly see the balls on the table. If it's like that at the Crucible which only holds 980 (?) what would the view be like from the back of a 3,000 seater venue ? You'd almost need binoculars 😄

The one that got me was, would you get the drama you get at The Crucible in a bigger arena? I've just seen that too. I wouldn't want to see it moved to Saudi for obvious reasons, but I'd find it difficult to justify not allowing China to host a 'World Championship' soon. In terms of moving it around the UK I think there's more sentimental reasons to keep it to Sheffield, but the ticketing situation needs resolving, the venue should be at least double, maybe triple without losing that close feeling.

Congratulations Kyren Wilson. It was a bit nervy but a well deserved win in the end. Good effort from Jones as well.

Wonderful interviews with both Kyren Wilson and Jak Jones. Made me smile to learn that Kyren’s little boys favourite player was Jud Trump.

Both finalists were an absolute credit to the game and incredibly humble. Loved Wilson’s speech he and his family have clearly sacrificed a lot to get there. Really hope Jones can push on he deserves success.

Like football clubs moving from their historic stadiums, I think it's mostly heart saying keep it at The Crucible - even that comment about the drama. Someone in the feature commented on worldwide viewing figures for the World Championship, but would that really drop without The Crucible? If it's in China then I think Australia, Belgium, Hong Kong and others should get one and that it should rotate. Maybe there should be a specific Crucible tournament and the triple crown should be a quadruple crown.

It's very steeply graded and incredibly claustrophobic but I guess that's what gives it its atmosphere! It'll be a sad day when it inevitably moves. The walk from the station up the hill is a killer! 😅 Luckily there are lots of pubs to rest in on the way! 😛

He admitted he was knackered. During the post match discussion it was said Jones had played an incredible amount of hours during his games, many going on for a lot of frames - over 80 hours I think. Whereas Wilson's games had been shorter and he had played 60 something hours.

But when they leave he can deflect some of the blame onto the council he only wants 2500 seats. Hanley can have it once the arena is up and the trams are running again... I turned the final off. The quality was fucking awful.
