I can see all the big clubs lawyers already looking to find loopholes in it. Apparently clubs like Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool, all big clubs, were in favour of it. And Cheslea weren't against it, but abstained from voting.

Nice for all the clubs that have already assembled billions in playing assets. Not so much fun for those at the bottom of the pile or those who get promoted.

That’s why its clever another attempt to ruin the pyramid opportunity and risk , really suits the likes of palace etc too . and maintains the status quo

Let me get this right……"PL clubs deciding on proposals that include spending being capped to between four and five times the amount the lowest-earning Premier League club receives in TV revenue." So last season the TV revenue lowest earning club was Leeds with £112m meaning that other clubs can spend up to £560m. How the flying fuck is that a spending cap that benefits all the PL clubs? Try telling the likes of Luton, Brighton, Wolves, Fulham & Brentford etc that they’re allowed to spend over half a billion. Another one from the mighty & righteous good ideas club no doubt. Fuck them all off to European super league so we can have a competitive league system.

Surely it would be good for us? A spend of 500m a season would allow us to spaff colossal sums on dross/superstars if we were in the Prem. Were we not owned by billionaires wanting to buy success (as opposed to a lot of other owners) it would be a barrier, but for Stoke Bet365 City removing the tie to total revenue would be good - no Euro cups no big gate receipts etc for us. Would be a good test for Denise's dong. Just the small matter of getting up there.

They were chewing the fat over it last night on 5live and the expert basically reckons it will change little only the fact that the clubs that sell the most merchandise will be better off.

It's pointless. All changes very little and further the gap between 'Big Clubs' and the rest.

All changes very little and further the gap between 'Big Clubs' and the rest. exactly , hence why they should go back how it’s always been , if they have the money let them spend it , it helps lower league teams who can sell there players to a league higher instead of buying abroad , them punish teams who go into debt and financial mismanagement

Teams already in the Prem, should have a spending cap,but teams promoted,in their 1st season should be allowed to spend more if they have it.

I was hearing that the loophole will be that breaching the cap results in a "luxury tax" which essentially makes the cap pointless for clubs backed by Qatar/Saudi etc

Absolutely pointless. Money talks and as sure as night and day a ‘work a round’ will be in place 30seconds after they implement the cap.

The cap is a multiple of the income received by the poorest team in the Prem.
The key factor is the size of the multiplication factor. 4.5 was initially suggested which would catch out 2 or 3 of the big spenders. However, 5 is now the likely value which would affect no clubs.

It’s not going to much and actually probably works in favour of the bigger clubs in the league.
I’m getting pretty despondent with the way football is heading and think the ones that wanted to fuck off to the Super League should just go ahead and do it and let the rest of us in the football leagues get on with things so we can all agree on a more level playing field.
It’s inevitable it’s just a matter of time.
