Apologies if there is already a thread, I can't find it. Another unbelievable scandal . Children deliberately and knowingly infected . It is in the public domain, but it probably lends itself to dramatisation to increase the pressure on the government, if necessary. You can't trust anyone. haemophilia.org.uk/public-inquiry/the-infected-blood-inquiry/the-contaminated-blood-scandal/I would have thought this would have been easier to lead to prosecutions and Accountability than in the Post Office scandal....unless there is some sort of medical protection it could come under the Offences Against the Persons Act

Nothing was really known about HIV transmission until the early 80’s. Hepatitis C also wasn’t discovered until 1989, making screening for it in the 70’s impossible.

I don't think that is what those involved are saying civil. I believe some doctors have admitted that they were experimenting on people / children with Hepatitis infected blood, to see if the victims wer infected. There is an example on line somewhere of regular blood tests taking place at a Special school

My sister had an infected transfusion when she was pregnant with her son, they got Hepatitis, my nephew has it and he has just passed his 40th birthday, they said he would only live until he was about 35, but he seems to be doing OK. They were on the TV when the inquiry started about 18 months ago, they were promised interim compensation, they've had nothing yet.

That's awful Northy, I think it really hits home when it becomes personal and we realise it could happen to any of us and our families. I think what is coming out now is that sonne haemophiliacs in particular were deliberately infected without consent as part of " research "

The headline of CHILDREN USED AS GUINEA PIGS just sums up the human race.

There is an example on line somewhere of regular blood tests taking place at a Special school Oh, that’s definitely screwed up. It’s not unheard of either - the Tuskegee experiment was a similar example of people who should be trustworthy happily destroying the lives of others for “science”. These things are not just damaging to the patient (the most important part) but also to trust in the medical and scientific community.
