I'm still not sure why they think fags should be more of a target than alcohol. Maybe it's just an easier option. Not as lethal in moderation, ciggies still are!

Maybe so, then again I've known healthy fit people drop dead at a young age and people in their nineties still puffing away. My argument is, compared to alcohol, cigarettes only harm the person smoking them nowadays. With alcohol, you've got alcoholism, drink driving, loutish behaviour, and all the destruction that comes with these.

Days off work, destroys families, implicated in over 200 diseases, increases domestic violence and more harmful than most, if not all, illegal drugs. But it's subsidised in the HOP so it's sacrosanct 😀

Apparently there were around 260 deaths last year caused by drink related motoring offences. I wonder how many of the deceased would of wished that the people involved only smoked a few extra fags and not had a few extra drinks.

Sweden and UK have had a co-operation about banning things for some time and it will continue, be reinforced and include many more things. The Swedish government is willing to come up with new "splendid" ideas. First introduce the shit to the society, then excusing themselves by banning it. Good luck with that ...
When it comes to the poison nicotine Sweden have now forbidden kids to smoke at school altogether. I think the age limit is 18 to be allowed to buy. In the 70ies they had special smoking squares outdoors the pupils could used at the lunch break. Just a memory now. UK is taking it another step further now obviously.
Our government are looking for other things to ban. Noone gets safe, since one suggested farting outdoors and at work places should be forbidden, since that air is filled with nasty stuff.
I wonder how that would work practically. The control function I mean. I know there are fire alarm and different kind of gas alarms, but does it exist a farting gas alarm you could buy? Will they employ a special fart controller? Have they thought about the consequences? Will he/she get a risk bonus?
Bacon next?🤔 I've never bought that, but have noticed it's very difficult to find it at grocery shops these days for those who wants it. I never see it. I'm sure they still sell it, but it sure is hidden these days. Under the counter perhaps?
Edith: Another thing I've thought about. There can be several reasons for not eating meat, I do get that, but sometimes I do hear you shouldn't eat meat since they (the animals) fart - and it's BAD for the environment. Could someone explain. Do they fart more if they're dead?

I must ask:
Is there someone out there who REALLY thinks this ban will do?
🤔

If there was a BACON & BEER BAN coming up, what would you do, how would you react?
I think it's definitely possible, thinking how the winds are blowing.

Cows also need a lot of land to be raised humanely. However, humans evolved to be omnivores. Meat eating, in particular, eating meat using fire accelerated our evolution by selecting against a large mandible (needed for nuts etc), which allowed our skull shape to change and our cranial capacity to increase. Meat eating is a fundamental part of our evolution. We should just do it responsibly and perhaps not for every meal.

Since you seem to be a believer in the evolution, what were we before we became omnivores, were we supposed to eat only meat or only vegetables & fruit or what? Aren't humans also producing methane when we fart? Should we diminish the world population? Why isn't that a good idea? You are saying, thanks to the meat production industry, more cows are "produced" to fill the need. Do you have any idea, any guess, how many cows less, relatively speaking, would have existed today without the meat production industry? 30%? Thanks for the clarification! 🤠

Do you have any idea, any guess, how many cows less, relatively speaking, would have existed today without the meat production industry? 30%? Thanks for the clarification! 🤠 No idea, r.e., cows. However, we actively breed them and look after them + have sheltered them from predators. We also owe them for being able to tolerate milk. Cows were one of the first domesticated animals. They were domesticated in men that went on to become Northern Europeans and not in those who went on to become Asians. It’s one of the reasons hypothesized for the selection of the lactase gene in Whites. Before Homo sapien, we still ate a lot of the same things but we likely had to eat more nuts and branch etc, which is our jaws were so large. Eventually, we found fire. That allowed us to create tools (our body gives us no right to be a dominant predator - we suck) and it allowed us to cook meat. Cooked meat is so much more calorie dense than nuts etc. So, we proliferated across the planet. As for the rest, yes. I think that the world is overpopulated. The environment would obviously be more healthy if there were fewer humans on it. Capitalism however requires that more and more people buy more and more things. So, we will continue with that overpopulation for a while yet. Happy to chat more about it over PM Musik but I’ve more detailed this thread enough.
