Apologies if there has been a thread on this. Does it really matter what happens to your ashes? I know it matters alot to some people. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/legacy-funeral-directors-probe-update-b2523388.htmlIf you are told that "these Ashes are 'Daves'"...you have to take it on face value, so in reality is it just a psychological issue. Of course it is all about trust. I've signed up to one of those " No funeral schemes" , I was a bit surprised that my children did want my Ashes. Mind you, they didn't say what they were going to do with them. Presuming I die of course, you never know.

Might not come off. I can't understand it, but my daughter says I've put her off Elvis by playing a bit too much of him when she was growing up. I think she is just trying to annoy me

I want my ashes to be buried up Parkhall overlooking the city with a fruit tree planted on top, reckon councils are missing a trick not offering such a service, I'd pay for it. Free fruit trees and a bit of profit..

My older brother passed away Christmas 2022, I've still got the bulk of his ashes in the boot of the car (appropriately stored) waiting for an appropriate moment to put him on his chosen bit of the Talyllyn railway. Meanwhile he's done more travelling than he did when he was alive. I'll get round to it soon but just means dodging trains 🙂

I would like my ashes scattering outside the house I was born in. That's where I came into the world and that's where I'll leave.

I'm going for a Tibetan Sky Burial - basically your relatives would have to carry your dead body up Mow Cop/Dundee Law, chop it up a bit, grind down the bones and feed it to the birds.
That'll teach 'em for buying socks every fucking Christmas.

Such a fab sequel to Life on Mars. Keeley Hawes is one of my favourite, unsung actresses. Phil Glenister as Gene, Don't move you're surrounded by armed bastards, Hunt and his crew even better than Life on Mars. A truly brilliant series with a really great finale.

Actually, they can dig anywhere. Some of it is probably from the person though.

Few years ago my jammy bastard next door neighbours were executor to a friends will who had no relatives and was leaving everything to the RSPCA. In her will she wanted her and her already deceased husbands ashes casting over the Aegean Sea in the Med. the will covered the cost of my neighbour and his wife’s all expenses paid cruise from Corfu to do this. When Dad died he gave me and my sisters an all expenses paid trip to cast his ashes over Westport Lake.

Good point the other scenario though is that if I don't get a move on I'll have to sieve him out from the rust 🤔

The missus and me have arranged and pre paid for our direct cremation with Co-op for less than all these new fry by night (sic) companies who fill the daytime TV advertising slots. We even got 25 quid discount for having Co-op membership (which kinda makes dying all the more worthwhile) We made our plans many years ago to have our ashes scattered in a special place by a remote lake in Mid Wales, where my parents have already been placed. Hopefully, I have a few miles left in the tank yet but I feel better having sorted out my disposal and will be leaving the kids some money to have a nice weekend break nearby, when they can do the deed and say goodbye in a much nicer way than watching a box disappear behind a curtain. This is where I'll be... come say hello Attachments:

I can still hear my Dad quietly remark that she was getting on a bus to go to Hanley one last time.

The deceased's remains should be individually cremated and the ashes traceable back to an individually allocated time slot. So Dave's ashes should be demonstrably Dave's if you asked for it to be evidenced.
