For defaulting on payments? They should feel lucky that they didn’t get wound up.

These penalties for breaches of the financial rules are far too lenient.
That article states: ‘The penalty relates to the Blades defaulting on payments to other clubs during the 2022-23 season, at the end of which they won promotion from the Championship to the Premier League’.
Am I reading this correctly? They entered into contracts with other clubs and breached those contacts and yet they were still allowed to be promoted and then a couple of years later they get docked 2 points?
These clubs are taking the piss. Automatic relegation should be the minimum penalty.

At least we won’t be bottom after the first round of fixtures !!(should we stay in the division!) Could be if they win and we lose. Shows what a complete waste of time that punishment is. The only time they are likely to be bottom is before the season kicks off.

Makes you wonder why clubs bother staying within the rules when the punishments are piss poor.

If Leicester don't go up, how many points will they be deducted?

If Everton or Forest come down only because of their points deductions the Championship shouldn't be entertaining them at all without some further penalty.
They are supposed to send us their worst teams not the most financially corrupt clubs!

I remember when Portsmouth went into administration few years ago, many small local businesses suffered financial losses.

If the punishment is only a couple of points, why don’t we go out and sign Bellingham, Mbappe and Kane? Get Klopp in as manager and win the league by 30 points.
Knowing Stoke, we would do that and still finish 17th.

Makes you wonder why clubs bother staying within the rules when the punishments are piss poor. Absolutely yep Lose 2 points, make 10s of millions Remember when Cardiff bought Thorne, Kav, Whalley, Prior and a whole lot more to guarantee promotion? The next season they had to borrow money to pay the players They should have been heavily punished and a transfer embargo as bought players they couldn't afford basically

Knowing Stoke, we would do that and still finish 17th. I admire your optimism but I think we’d be bottom 3 at Christmas, sack Klopp and replace him with Peter Reid as JC hunkers down on his ‘old school British managers’ only policy. Mbappe would be training with the reserves after falling out with Reid after he shouted ‘break his fucking legs’ to assistant coach Andy Todd who’d joined in a 5 aside game. We’d end the season bottom of the League and be deducted 60 points for breaching FFP and end up ground sharing with Vale after being forced to sell the ground.
