Don't follow the advice from Uefa to book accommodation in or around Frankfurt Main Station for the England Euro game there. It is the biggest shithole in the city and although some reports are a bit OTT it is not suitable for anyone to stay in my opinion unless you're desperate. The streets especially at night aren't particularly safe and it can be a bit scary if you're not aware of your own safety. I've been to the railway station and the main bus station dozens of times over the last few years and its as rough a place as I've seen. So book a place elsewhere in the city or even outside towards Darmstadt as the trains are excellent, cheap around £6 for a 24hr day ticket and frequent every 30mins, get off at Neu-Isenburg using the S3 or S4 train from the city centre or Darmstadt and walk to the stadium through the forest about 2miles but plenty walk that route and its safe I've done it myself. Finding a place to drink and eat is not an issue there are hundreds or bars and places to eat throughout the city and beyond the main city centre. I suppose the main square at Romerberg is favourite, but over the river in Sachsenhausen is decent for food and drink but there are so many you won't struggle to get fed and watered.

Just had a quick look and the S8 & S9 to Wisebaden trains from the city goes to the nearest station Frankfurt am Main Stadion about 20min walk to the stadium £3 return from Konstablerwache (right in the middle of the city)
I use the DB train app its an excellent way to navigate the city. Direct to the ground 5 stops from Konstablerwache 12min journey.

Agree with Franklin, it’s a dangerous place around the main station, far better to get somewhere a few miles away and take the excellent tram and metro system they have, you can get anywhere in a jiffy.

The main station areas have been tarted up a bit in recent years and are FAR less dodgy. In place of knocking shops are funky bars and coffee outlets. It's still a little seedy. It was like all traditional main German train stations in the past, if you know what I mean (think Damrak). I would still not recommend staying in any host location and just check where the S-Bahn goes and spot a decent mid-size town. They normally have enough things to do when you're not watching football and the train ride is normally a breeze and covered by your match day ticket. The hotel prices will be accordingly reasonable.

That's not too far from the city centre if its the one I think it is my lad used to live not too far from there he's moved now but its walking distance to the city or a short trip on a tram or the underground U Bahn. A terrific pizza place not far away with the biggest pizzas you'll ever see 😆 L'Osteria Frankfurt Hanauer Landstrasse well worth a visit if you like Italian food.

What I would say around the main station are some good African eateries, which were very reasonable and good last time I was there.

If you don't mind going a little bit out of the way, then this is a classic Brauhaus to the north of the city: meinbier.de/Great food too. If you like your cider and the odd badger, then this is the place for you: www.apfelwein-dax.de/SpeisekarteFrankfurt is actually the home of German cider and it's pretty good.

Big fan of Frankfurt. Was there in the summer on the way back from the Alsace to my sisters in Hanover. Can recommend Frankfurt enough. Apfelwein places are mega if you can find a humongous Jagerschnitezel to snaffle.
My sister used to live there and she lived not too far from sachsenhausen - bit cheezy but fun none the less. (used to be a hooters there but sadly its closed!)
The Main river banks will no doubt be busy during the euros - there will be plenty of stuff going on down there. The Main Tower is also worth going up to see the city.

it said to hear Frankfurt now has rough areas , i was there in 88 for the euros and had a fantastic time Oh it's still a brilliant place just a bit rough near to the main railway station, my lads lived there for the last 6 years or so and we visit often throughout the year. For Uefa to recommend that area for England fans really is poor its not great mate homelessness, open street drug use, red light district it's just not the best area to send some folk who might not have the knowledge of the area.

Not sure how many of you guys have match tickets? We have been unsuccessful so far so are just going for the craic - I can imagine that the fan zones on the river will be pretty good. Interesting that Germany play the night before our match so I would imagine the city will be pretty busy with lots of locals plus English and Danish arriving. Could be lively!

Used to be a cracking little bar underneath one of the bridges if memory serves me right(sachsenhausen side)? Also Hanauerlandstrasse used to be decent for clubs etc back in the day. 190east or kingkamehah was a club I remember. Great city.

You should pop in Dauth-Schneider and try a mispelchen an interesting drink at the end of the night after a schnitzel 😁 I love them 🙂 I shall, and will post a detailed critique 🙂 My favourite bar in Sachsenhausen was Alte Liebe. Darmstädter Landstraße 23, 60594 Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Great atmosphere. Really friendly locals and interesting mix of people. Highly recommend to anyone. I stayed in Frankfurt for 10 weeks at Hotel Cult. Good place right next to Mulberg S-bahn. To be honest I found Frankfurt to be a little bit dull after a while but I was mainly there on my own so was not privy to all the 'in-places' that the locals go to. I prefer Hamburg and Berlin but I have never been in those places for 10 weeks at a time so it is not a fair comparison. I was also there during Covid which didn't help. Got a few stares from the locals for jay-walking all the time. Serves them right for throwing my food at me at the checkout in the local Aldi. Happpy to go back to Frankfurt but not for Euros. Far too busy. I prefer to watch my international footy in the pub. Best way to watch the Euros is in a pub in Holland, France, Spain,Italy, Poland etc. Anywhere bar Germany. Plan on doing the same for the British & Irish Lions tour to Oz. Play in Sydney I will be watching in Melbourne. Always go the following week to the city where they have just played. Cheap hotels and you can still have the craic in the pub.

Drank many times in alte liebe brilliant to get the train home i can literally time my last drink before running over the road to get my train, the little outside area is great in a sunny afternoon/ evening 😎

I had no issues at the main station in Frankfurt but I'm going back 7yrs. I went to watch a concert at the stadium, great place. Annoyingly with the Germans, everything was extremely well organised and on time, couldn't fault it.
