"10 points clear"
"We can see you sneaking out"
Johnny Butler's wing wizardry... that golden finish... a classic crowd-bursting terrace mental.
What a night!

Remember being absolutely gutted 4 days previously when a young Trevor Sinclair scored a last minute winner for Blackpool at the Vic and I thought we were going to blow it but along came a night like this to restore the faith

Unfortunately sat with that lot as just back from holidays that morning and all the tickets I could get. Were scuffles breaking out everywhere when Stein scored and some fans ran across the pitch to the other end. Was tempted but had gf at the time with me and she was struggling to keep awake.
Had a bloke behind us who just kept shouting 'Gleghorn...hard man my arse ' at him all though the game !!! Not sure why and as we were front row was about 20 feet from him when he scored and shoutie left. Not sure why he picked on Gleghorn but didn't work well .
Perhaps it was 'Hold the line ' man

Precious memories.
The folk I took to that game are no longer with us.
I too was sat amongst the Vale fans. They thought the Stein goal was a lucky miskick and that 10 points was nothing at this stage of the season!

My favourite season ever ๐๐ Just an insane feel good about the place...Dare I say, even better than the prem days... And that was in division 1 (third tier) Was a brill season. The spirit within the club is most important, not the division you are in.

Was woman I would say in her 70s sat near us and she was spitting venom at our players. Weird what football does to people. Probably back to being a sweet old Grandma after the game.

Special mention to Johnny Butler โSir Stan like wing wizardryโ aka Scouse Oatcake Poster. Thanks John ๐ค๐

I remember Johnny Butler's cross going straight to Stenio and I was screaming 'time, take your time'. Good job Steino didn't listen to me as he smashed it past Musslewhite. I ended up a good 10 yards away from where I stated after that mental. Brucie G in goal, telling us not to run onto the pitch at the end. My Vale mate telling me that a 'swallow doesn't make a summer' after that game. Still deluded now as he was then!
