RIP a proper defender played and won for Shankly and Clough. It doesn't get much better.

Just one of Cloughie's many canny signings in that team. Still amazing what was achieved. RIP Big Larry.

I was a student in Nottingham back in 1977/78 and with playing football on Saturday mornings I often couldn't get back for Stoke games (especially away games), so I used to go and watch Forest to get my football fix. Larry Lloyd and Kenny Burns were a right pair of "orrible" centre halves around which Cloughie built a really tough defence. At the games I attended it always seemed to be that the Forest defence would completely smother the opposition and then late on John Robertson would cut in from the wing and they would win 1-0. R.I.P.

One of those players where you can't quite decide if he was a Liverpool or a Forest player.
Just checked him out on wiki, 150 games for Liverpool and 148 for Forest.
I forgot he chucked in 50 matches for Cov City in between.
A big lump of a defender, no unnecessary frills, a real job-in-hander.

He was a solid and reliable defender who had great success at both Forest and Liverpool.

Good player and by the sounds of it a good lad. I only remember watching him for Liverpool can't recall seeing him in the flesh for Forest but I was quite hormonal in the late seventies amd Forest held little interest among Stoke,UFO, Scorpions etc.!

Went into his Nottingham pub quite a few times.
Not in itself a great pub - imho - but he was always pleasant and welcoming.
RIP Larry

I’m sorry to be an old curmudgeon but really, there is nothing going on in modern football that beats a story like that. *on a personal level I have to go back to Mario Ballatelli’s bedroom curtain fire. Mint.

Cast in the same mold as our very own Alan 'Bluto' Bloor. An absolute rock of a defender who made Smithies job much easier.

I also had it in my head that he was Welsh, I guess because of the name 'Lloyd', but it seems he was a Bristol boy, so nearly Wales, but not quite!
