An old chestnut Sentencing An absolute tragic event. For those of us with children, it could have happened to any of ours. Unprovoked innocent victim, mother helping overseas at orphanages. 6 years and 8 years, previous convictions for violence. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-68622359.amp

It's a difficult one because while it says they were looking for a fight, I don't believe they were looking to murder someone and its just tragic.

I don’t know how I feel about that for length of sentence to be honest. Maybe they didn’t go out specifically looking to kill somebody. However, it’s not like it’s unheard of that people die when being hit in the face. You take that risk every time you get into a fight with someone.
I do think that the British relationship with alcohol needs to be considered. I’ve never seen so many drunken fights as when I’m in Britain. It just seems like part of the culture.
Terrible for the family of the victim.
