My understanding clubs charge booking fees , because unlike ST & match tickets , booking fees are VAT exempt , allowing clubs to retain more money within the business ..if they rolled the two together they’d lose that financial advantage Likewise away clubs use to receive a percentage of the home gate .. but that was changed in the 80s meaning home clubs retain the gate money …EFL rules I believe allow away clubs to charge home clubs a 5% commission for selling away tickets ..though there’s some belief within football that this might be waived on reciprocal grounds , instead clubs go down the booking fee route instead to help towards covering their ticket office costs be it hardware or software or staff Similarly these days several clubs look too reciprocal ticket pricing agreements , to reduce costs to their away support ..when appropriate Stoke are open to this .. Leeds are well known to be open to reciprocal pricing to prevent their fans from being fleeced at away games ..though there negotiations are more of a blackmail approach , as fans of clubs that don’t come to agreement with them tend to pay a heavy price for tickets at Elland Rd ST renewed yesterday I appreciate the explanation Scouse but I think it’s a fee that could be very easily avoided. Surely the cost of going to a match nowadays is enough!? I don’t disagree . unlike people going the theatre to see a top show ( though have you seen the cost of a decent seat at a west end show , some are eye watering ) or watching a top band a couple of times a year , football for many , rather than the mad few has become an every week past time ..things can get very expensive , very quickly especially if you’ve a family in tow the ‘addiction ‘ effect , pressure by clubs and the peer effect by school friends and fellow fans for people to remain ‘loyal’ doesn’t help , meaning once the games got its claws into you there’s a never ending cost and more and more people get hooked every year and end up going or expecting to go far more games than they ever would in the past , whilst the number of games just keep growing a never ending spiral Its easy to say on one hand fans should cut their cloth accordingly ..but we all know it’s not as easy as that .. it’s also easy to say football should be more affordable , but how do we do that when tens of millions that could be better used drains out the game weekly in players wages , not out of need but to enable the purchase of yet another Louis Vuitton wash bag to be placed under their arm as they scribble their autograph on a young star struck fans ‘authentic’ shirt with their one off Mont Blanc pens , thats ‘authentic’ note not a mere replica rubbish ..whilst dad looks on aghast at seeing the £120 shirt he coughed up for effectively ruined What’s the answer , I honestly don’t know ..the must have world and society and the race to the bottom has seemingly won and the game is fucked and has been for a long time * Note my heart goes out to genuinely hard pressed people , parents and kids who’d love to go to just one game never mind 50+ in a season , but who simply haven't got a cat in hells chance of affording it

Anyone had any problems purchasing an unreserved southstand season ticket (relocation) Had my payment go through only to state an error had occurred. Monies have been taken from bank account but stoke can't see the transaction 🤔 contacted my bank and now have to wait 5 days for the funds not to be taken by stoke then hope the cash bounces back into my account. If not then I have to appeal. What an absolute farce 🫣

I thought that you had to renew your current seat & then change to the south stand once it becomes available?
As for the payment… I had the same the other week. Went out for a meal & ordered the drinks & food on the app. My order never went through but it took the money out of the bank which resulted in me paying for it twice. It stays as “pending” for 5 working days mate then it will go back into your account. It is a lot of money to be floating about for a week in your bank though if you’ve paid in full.
