I fucking loved it. Masterpiece.
Surprised by all the good public reviews though, thought it wouldn't appeal to that many.
Anyone else seen it?

Not yet, I don't think I can stand 3 hours at the cinema. It's even longer with the trailers and wanky perfume ads.

I watched it on Sunday night. I thought that the visuals in it were excellent, for example the black and white scenes. I’m glad that I went back and read the synopsis of the first one as I think I’d have been more lost otherwise (I didn’t read the books).

Rewatched the first one then went to see Part 2 Saturday night. Immense and absorbing . Haven't read the books but I understand Villeneuve has done well to shape a clear narrative in Part 2.

Loved it.
I read the books in my early twenties and it's stayed with me ever since. So far ahead of it's time in terms of it's understanding of global politics, the role of religion, the nature of power and the overriding importance of planetary ecology - hopefully more of which in part 3.
Paul Atreides was very much a reluctant hero in the books but I really like the way the down to earth, religiously sceptic Chani has become the real hero in the film. The fact that she is utterly drop dead gorgeous has nothing to do with it.
Also special mention for Feyd (top notch villain) and the sand worms. Who doesn't want to ride a sand worm.

Lots of pretentious wankery in the books and that article. I'm here for all of it.

Not really much of a sci-fi fan but I enjoyed the first one and watched the second on Saturday, thought it was brilliant.

Yeh, really enjoyed 1 and 2. If you don't like slow films you'll probably hate it tho
