I'm suspicious of pop acts that don't take creative risks. Yeah, she did 2 folk albums but it's hardly a step into the unknown.
Her fans are mental as well, not in the Nicki Minaj camp of toxicity but certainly in the tier below.

Selling records and making good music don't necessarily go together. There's absolutely nothing out there by her that's particularly memorable for the right reasons. The lyrics feel contrived just have another listen to anti hero. She's successful, she's incredibly hyped but unlike the Gaga hype there's nothing there. Making “good music” is an opinion. My wife likes Taylor Swift and I like a lot of her initial country music. Tim McGraw and Highway Don’t Care are two fun songs. Mostly though, I don’t think she really sings songs for either of us (I may be wrong). Her market audience seems to be young women, adolescents and kids. I would also argue that the only marker that matters is no. of records sold when considering if a track is “good” or not. She’s now a pop singer and they aren’t known for writing epic tails. Yet, TS’s songs sell very well to her audience. She writes much/most of it herself. Her music is typically quite wholesome and she doesn’t need to dance around in pieces of cloth that barely keep her from exposing herself to create a fanbase. Selling songs that aren’t based on sex is kind of refreshing. So currently she's writing the best music that's out there? There's so much out there that doesn't see the light of day it's sometimes down to luck. If some tracks out there had the same amount of ridiculous hype and publicity surely they'd be selling on the same level? There's also a fair amount of shaming going on in your last paragraph women are now allowed to wear what they want, write what they want and sing what they want fortunately.

I didn’t shame anyone (at least that was not my intention). They can do all of those things and I listen to a lot of music that builds on that: Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion for example are great businesswomen who have figured out their genre of music and sold millions of tracks because they’ve got their style down to a tee. People like Justin Timberlake and Christina did the same. I like their music and image but I do prefer Taylor Swift’s wholesome representation as I think she is genuine to herself, and that is why it works. Taylor Swift has all of the hype because she’s been able to consistently engage her fans (and build on them) for about 15 years. There is an element of luck, there’s also just an element of being good at what she does and consistently ticking the right boxes year after year. Lots of big artists run out of steam or fail to deliver an album that doesn’t appeal to their fanbase. TS hasn’t done that yet, which is why I believe the hype.
