BBC calling this the most brutal game ever. I think there were worse tbh, but probably not in the cup final I kind of miss football being played like this Chelsea v Leeds

The pendulum did swing too far the other way with players falling down if an opponent runs close to them, but that doesn't mean a return to this type of thuggery would be good. By the way you are correct, I recall much more brutal games but this was probably the worst Cup Final.

Someone with little talent who had the aim of ending another player's career is a proper footballer apparently All for fair physical play but a limit. Leeds v Bayern, Leeds moaned re the ref but not the injuries they dished out Kind of ironic as we possibly lost a league title to proper football and leg breaks

I think a few Italian teams of that era would want their say on the brutality claim !

Yes I think it was mentioned a few years later, similar to the one that shafted Forest was it, v Anderlecht ?

Some of the players weren't hard to my thinking, more cowardice, tackles were from behind or very late
The referee was pretty shit in that Cup Final replay though.

How that Chilean who threw the punch didn't get sent off when the two Italians did, seems a bit corrupt ...

Yep but some praise them as greats Some see all old stuff as so much better though. Watched Forest v Malmo a few weeks back...that Malmo side wouldn't beat Leicester today. They were dreadful. The pace of the game also or lack of it.

That was reffedby Ken Aston. I met him once and immediately asked him about Santiago. Later in the conversation he said it was frustrating to have led some reffing innovations but the only thing anyone asks him about is Santiago. Sorry Ken. 😄😄

I remember a game between Spurs and Barca , early 80s I think, 81/82. Barca were shocking and amazingly both teams were fined. Steve Perryman lost his bat and got booked for a bad challenge but game became a farce as Barca players constantly surrounding the ref.
Clemence made a howler from a long range shot, Olmo the defender think it was. European football late 70s/Early 80s was full of play acting, cheating etc .

Some people say that's proper nogger. But when Atletico Madrid are heading out of the champions league and start hacking they get all indignant
