I bet they had a right laugh when they thought the name up and that they were being so clever. I think the word is so degrading and the whole club and players should be embarrassed and quite frankly the people involved should grow up. Perfect response imho

The fizzy version is just wrong in general Oh I have to disagree there - Vimto "Zero" is ace. Actually, does anyone remember Tizer? Where were we? - Oh yes, misogyny, banter and the younger generation...* * Available in University Book Stores . Lucozade when they were glass bottles wrapped up in that crinkly orange cellophane

Not at all how old was the latest stabbing victim and how old were the 2 people arrested. The above is an extreme example, and those particular individuals sentenced had many many issues it seems. In general terms though kids get their values from their parents and close associates. If a child grows up in a household where the mum is the glorified hired help, where the dad and kids never pick up an iron, or use the oven or the washing machine the son that goes out into the wide world may have a distorted view of what constitutes a healthy equal relationship. Then if you throw in things like access to violent and misogynistic pornography being readily available into the mix, it suddenly takes an even more sinister turn and that child may grow up with a very very unhealthy view on women and their place in the world. It's not that deep, the world is changing and as parents of young boys I think we have a responsibility of making sure they view women as absolute equals in the home, the workplace or wherever. Those young boys become men, they run companies, have relationships, they become politicians or whatever and on the back of that we get positive change. Sexist "banter" has had its day, it's just fucking cringeworthy and needs to stop. It should have ended with Zoo, Nuts and Loaded magazines.......... It's not extreme mate it's obvious to me that violent crime amongst youngsters is way more prevalent than i recall. As for parents I don't disagree about parents influencing change I just think it's very unlikely to happen because young kids can be arseholes with all the best parenting available imho it's human nature some good folk some misogynistic, homophobic or whatever names there are for them. As for the OP and the story it's ridiculous but does it enrage me no its a nothing story. Caveat: I accept adults can be just as bad.

In the case of the tool with the MINGER number plate you, I and anyone else can just think they are a dickhead and ignore them (or applaud them for their manly anti-woke stance if that's your bag) and get on with it. In the case of the football team the league are telling one club to play a fixture against a club they think are a bunch of misogynistic dickheads and rather than let down the women associated with their club by caving in to a league unwilling to support their stance they are sticking by their principles and potentially forfeiting their involvement in the competition. The club in question are effectively being told to suck it up and go along with the "joke". Why should they? This isn't a case of a bunch of lads not being allowed to indulge in a bit of banter. It's a case of the relevant authorities insisting that those who find it objectionable have to go along with it and thereby perpetuate an environment why misogyny is considered acceptable.

What you hear could very well be different to what goes on when your not there. I appreciate you hope that things change but I doubt it very much there are youngsters very willing to perpetuate the same old stuff as we've just seen in the murder of the young trans girl in Cheshire and its not "oldies" doing this it's young kids that are way more intolerant and violent than we ever were. To be fair to Cheshire, those two fucked up murderous shitbags are not the product of there immediate surroundings. But the Prime Minister of this country making cheap bantz about trans women at the dispatch box whilst the mother of her murdered child witnessed it from the public gallery doesn't help. But it wasn't true was it.

The members of a football club are challenging having to accept casual misogyny by another club in support of their women members. The league (and the majority of the posters on here) are telling them they haven't got a sense of humour and should suck it up. Why should they?

Almost every poster is either debating constructively or explicitly disapproving of the team's name. Talk about seeing what you want to see

The league involved should never have registered a team under that name. They are after walking themselves into the shit, because of doing so. Of course they will have to insist on fixtures between registered clubs being played. Next season is a different story and hopefully lessons will be learned.

To be fair to the team refusing to play, the article itself says it's not just because of the name of the opposition teams name that's making them call it off but also "horrific examples of misogyny" posted to that club's social media accounts.
It's pretty difficult to judge if it's a case of people "being offended for the sake of it" without first knowing what those examples were, particularly when there's already an ongoing investigation into the club (although the article fails to mention if that investigation relates to accusations made from the boycott of the first game or whether another club has complained about them for other reasons).
For such an article, it's fairly lacking in salient information.

Bit of a sweeping statement. And to be honest, using the murderers of Brianna Ghey as an example is a bit wide of the mark given that Scarlett Jenkinson (clearly the "brains" behind the crime) is off-the-chart psycho and has a bagful of issues all of her own. They'll be writing theses and doing Real Life crime docs about her for years - so she's not really representative of an age group. I'm not saying the younger generation aren't capable of intolerance/violence (all depends on upbringing/environment), but my own kids don't give a stuff about race/gender etc and I suspect are more representative of many of today's younger gen. I agree. I suspect like 90% (could be more) of the population, young or old.

I then for some unknown random reason decided to look you up and got this... "Imagine being self righteous enough to call out someone for abuse only then to decide it's actually fine if you do it yourself as long "well, they did it first Sir". How old are you, 12?? It doesn't matter "who did it first", it's massive hypocrisy by yourself" That's a pretty fucking good legacy there mate

The fact this even makes national news says a lot about the wet wipe society we live in. People grabbing on to whatever they can to play victim and make an issue in sport. Fucking grow up and get over it. Football especially has done absolutely everything it can from the top to be inclusive to all, women represented very much in the men’s game, so why make a deal over this shit? Honestly pathetic, from those who named the side…..and also from those who are kicking off about it.
