WTF
Where’s the defensive midfielder, where’s the width.
The bench looks very strong whereas the first XI doesn’t.
Bae, Cundle, Berger, Baker. No midfield metal.
I wonder if it’s this and we’re trying to confuse QPR
Iverson
Junior rose mcanally rose Henry
Burger Thompson
Cundle baker junho
Ennis

I’m confused.. so who is on the wing? I’m guessing Junior & Hoever are wing backs but no wingers on at all? £3m for a winger & he’s on the bench. Crazy stuff. Hope SS knows what he’s doing tonight as we are desperate for these points. Hoever is RCB and Thompson is LWB. Fine with the former, but Thompson at LWB when we have Manhoef who has pace to burn and has also played at LWB before seems a bit daft.

In out, in, out, shake it all about.
Complete lottery whether you're starting, on the bench or not in the 20.

Biggest thing for me is this looks like the death of the inverted full back which is a massive blessing. We conceded 2 goals and gave the ball away a huge number of times due to that BS.
Don’t understand Thomson at left wing back when we’ve just spent a bucket on this Dutch fella that plays there, but hope to be proved wrong.
Better feeling about this one, come on Stoke!

it’s worrying that it feels like a selection done out of desperation. Is Thompson a WB? Just said same to my good lady. I like SS but it does smack of desperation. Then again he is a pro and I’m not so I’ll go with it.

Well it's 'different' Crazy that we sign a £3m winger drop him and then play Jordan Thompson as a wingback We could always have spent the 3.4 million on a competent CB and LB, but what do we know? We know that we've signed a player who hadn't played much in the weeks coming up to the transfer. Therefore two times ninety minutes in four days might be stretching it for the player physique, but there's always a chance he comes on with thirty minutes to go and rips up the qpr defence...

It seems like a team to swamp the midfield, where we have been overrun in the last two matches. But not much threat going forward and little width. Let’s hope it works

I'd have had Cundle on the bench to come on for Pearson in the latter stages if we are imposing ourselves on the game more.

It’s not a new formation. It’s another shitty wingback line-up.

I take your point, but had to google 3 4 2 1 as I don’t understand it…:. “3-4-2-1 is a variation of the 3-4-3 shape, a highly attack-minded formation first developed by tactical mastermind and pioneer of Dutch 'Total Football' Johan Cruyff. It's made up of 3 central defenders, 4 midfielders, 2 inside forwards, and 1 central striker, often with a real emphasis on offensive play” So SS is Johan Cruyff now. I just hope we’re not 3-0 down again after 20 minutes.

I assume it’s actually 3421, with Bae and Cundle behind Ennis. Not sure what he sees in Cundle. It’s so heavily imbalanced on that left side. I think we’ll struggle. I'm not sure why cundle gets so much stick if I'm honest. Don't get me wrong he's not the best player we've ever had but he hasn't really done much wrong since he joined 🤷🏻 He hasn’t done anything right either. This actually may be a place where he could work well but it seems like that’s asking a lot of Thompson (a central midfielder who is not a left wing back and not a left back anymore). I’d have put Manhoef where Ennis is and Ennis in place of Cundle to be honest. Ennis has played in that role a few times for Plymouth. Manhoef has pace and that simply frightens defenders.

I’d have gone for something similar. Would’ve taken Mmaee over Ennis, though. Why? Mmaee couldn’t finish his dinner, Ennis scored
