Having some work done upstairs.....the plasterer has just fallen through the ceiling!!!! He's ok. Any other examples of home/ DIY/ Disasters/ Accidents. ( I did drill through an electric wire once whilst showing my son how to use a drill properly.....should have got Fraise to do it)

Drilled through 13 amp ring main in block wall once. Managed to dig it out, inline crimp repair and re-bury. This was in our first house 45 yrs ago so probably still there. Drilled through 15mm gas supply to kitchen. Luckily could get to it and replace the section.

Thankfully he only received a minor injury (hopefully it was just burns and not due to my dad coming home and finding he no longer had a home). Result - Living in our front garden in a caravan for a number of weeks. - Having our bungalow transform into a house.

You seem to have a bit of an affiliation with fires Chuffed....did you ever consider the Fire Service instead of the Police, or are you happy just to create work for them.

Not a DIY disaster but this reminds me of when I was a young lad living in Wolstanton. There must have been mining subsidence and we were put up in a local hotel whilst repairs were done to our house paid for by coal board. Must have been early 60s. There must have been loads of homes suffered same around coal mining fields in Stoke/Newcastle.

I once accidentally missed and went straight up the shitter. You’d think it was a disaster from the reaction.

Loads, I’m shite at DIY type stuff.
Installed a loft ladder which collapsed with me on it, cracked three ribs.
Jet washing the drive insanely thought what would happen if I jet washed a finger, hurt like mad and took months to heal.
Took up some decking, CBA putting it back, wife fell and fractured her back bone.
Fell out of the attic more times than I can count.

He went ballistic with me

I’ve always imagined you looking like this Chuffed, bet you’re a nightmare on those steam engines.

I'd nearly finished cutting a tall hedge in our garden a couple of years ago when I overstretched and fell off the ladder. While I was lying on the slabs in quite a lot of pain from my left foot I looked at the hedge and saw there was only about a 5 foot length still to finish. So I somehow slowly climbed back up the ladder and finished the job. I managed to very slowly limp indoors, got interrogated by the wife, and went for a lie down as I was sure it was "just a bump". Tried to go to the loo in the night but couldn't put any weight on my left foot. Went to A&E the next day and found I'd badly broken my left heel which led to 8 weeks on crutches and a long recovery.
