The players we have signed over the last 12 months the more sense it made of poor ol’ Nige retiring.

www.telegraaf.nl/sport/1224022222/live-transfers-van-veen-verlaat-fc-groningen-en-kiest-voor-kilmarnock-manhoef-naar-stokeDream comes out for Manhoef: Vitesse attacker leaves for Stoke CityThe transfer from Million Manhoef has been completed. The attacker passed the inspection at Stoke City and signed a 3.5-year contract with another option year. The Championship has proved to be a nice stepping stone for many Dutch talents in recent years and Manhoef hopes to follow the same route. Vitesse collects 4 million euros for the self-trained player, which is the highest amount for the Arnhem club since the transfer from Vyacheslav Karavaev to Zenit Saint Petersburg in the summer of 2019 (8 million euros). There was also interest from Palermo in Manhoef, but the player chose the adventure in England. Earlier this window, a transfer to Hellas Verona failed Vitesse's refusal to cooperate, while the same happened last summer when AZ had concrete interest. For Vitesse, Manhoef played 88 duels, in which he scored six goals. Last season he was a club top scorer with 9 goals and this season he was also at the top of the club top scorers list with 4 goals together with Marco van Ginkel.

Wonder if part of the appeal with european players is their lower salary demands for their ability level?
I.e. €4m seems a lot based upon our position and his present background stats.
Video shows his stats, exciting but appears to lack end product. Fingers crossed he can get that with us...

Their local paper also saying it's done www.gelderlander.nl/vitesse/done-deal-bij-vitesse-million-manhoef-tekent-voor-3-5-jaar-bij-stoke-city-br~a2313b8c/Done deal at Vitesse: Million Manhoef signs for 3.5 years with Stoke CityMillion Manhoef continues his career at Stoke City. The winger has completed his transfer to the English club. Vitesse will receive an amount of around 4 million euros for the Jong Oranje international. Manhoef (22) has canceled a transfer to Palermo for the English adventure. The Italians were also concrete. The attacker signs for 3.5 years with Stoke, the number 19 in the Championship. The club has an option to extend for another year. Vitesse held back Manhoef's departure for a long time. Trainer Edward Sturing and technical director Benjamin Schmedes wanted the selection to remain up to standard in the fight against relegation. But due to the financial need in Arnhem, a deal was closed. To complete this year of football, the Gelderland club still needs at least 5 million euros. A transfer from Manhoef eases the concerns on the Rhine. Manhoef played for Vitesse's main squad for four years. He has 88 appearances for the club (all competitions), with 16 goals. Last year Manhoef was the top scorer at Vitesse with 9 goals. This season he often struggled with his form. Nevertheless, he still scored 4 goals. Together with Marco van Ginkel, he was the club's top scorer until the winter.
