Million Manhoef boarded a plane with his supervisors this morning to complete his transfer to Stoke City. The transfer of 4 million euros is Vitesse's biggest since the sale of Vyacheslav Karavaev for 8 million in the summer window of 2019. And what happened to Vyacheslav Karavaev after that 8 million transfer from Vitesse...? In a word: nothing. Or virtually nothing. Maybe they're just good salesmen in Arnhem... Saying that, another player called Martin Ødegaard played in the same Vitesse team as Karavaev. His transfer fee probably wasn't as high, but fair to say he went on to slightly better things. Vitesse have actually been a breeding ground for some decent players in recent seasons: Marvelous Nakamba, Mason Mount, Armando Broja... ... and Lewis Baker!

Sounds exactly what we need, a pacy, direct winger who is willing to constantly take people on. We did have one of those in Alfie Doughty and let him go because ‘he wasn’t good enough for us’!

Crazy that he didn't get a chance here, nearly 20 games in the premier league, 6 assists and one goal. Fair play to the lad, he has moved on to better things.

I know nothing about this player. But 4 million euros seems steep. His record doesn’t look the best. Albeit he is playing for a team rooted to the bottom of the Dutch league. Hopefully he’s a Burger. Suggest watch the video of him in the thread.

He looks strong and direct to me, with pace and trickery.

Fair play to the lad, he has moved on to better things. He didn't get a chance because he arrived injured, and then MON played him more as a wide attacking forward instead of as a wing-back, which is how he has excelled for Luton. I guess that's down to having Tymon as LWB already, which to be fair he had made himself the division's best in that position (for a season at least).

Reminds me of watching Brek Shea's video. And that of Jamie Ness. And... So what you're saying is only sign players that look crap on YouTube videos 😂 I suppose what I imply is don't sign players until you have seen them in person at least 21 times. Or don't sign sunny day players until you've seen them on cold, rainy and windy days...

They have an affiliate agreement with Chelsea hence why a lot of Chelsea's younger players are loaned there.

There was no fee involved with Ødegaard, because he was on loan (from Real Madrid, and knowing RM as I do, they probably asked a huge loan fee). But your information does prove that they are really good salespeople in Arnhem.

That quote is just a smokescreen phrase. He was good enough or we wouldn't have signed him, but for whateever reason he didn't fit in. Whether it was disciplinary problems or if he went out of his way to say he hated Catholics we'll never know.

Have to say this comment made me chuckle "Million is a player that creates a lot of scoring opportunities with his crosses, but unfortunately they are not converted into assists due to the poor play of Vitesse's forwards". Fast forward a few months and the only word in that sentence you may need to replace is Stoke with Vitesse... Hopefully someone can come up with a Carl Saunders-esque run of form. Or even better a Peter Thorne type turn of form. Easy to forget his first two seasons he score 9 & 12 and wasn't setting the world alight in his 3rd season before exploding after sticking 4 past Chesterfield. I absolutely loved Peter Thorne when he signed from Swindon. At the beginning you could see that he was doing all the right things, but somehow it just wasn't dropping for him. With him you could tell it was only a matter of time, with the fear being he would be shipped off before it clicked. I desperately want that to be the case with Mmaee, but I am not sure he has the same work ethic or physicality to bring his talents out....

Or perhaps, a young lad recovering from injury struggled to get used to life in a different part of the country, so he asked to move back south and Stoke cut their losses?

I like the look of this one.
Only thing I still don’t like is we’re not a very big/physical team.
Wilmot is small and not very physical Hoever is on the bigger side for a full back Rose is tall not physical McNally isn’t massively tall or massively physical Burger is the only tall and physical CM we have (Thompson’s physical /combative not tall)
You get the idea.

Yes we aren't a big / Physical side! I'm sure I saw some stat the other day that had us in top 5 for fouls committed though. Got to admit have never heard of Manhoef, but reading up on him etc, if he settles (Burger and Hoever will help) could be some decent business

There was plenty of opportunity where Tymon looked knackered and Doughty could've been brought on for 20 minutes at least. I like(d) O'Neill a lot, but his use/non-use of some players was baffling, though we never know what was going on behind the scenes.
