Tricky appears to now be in charge of all he surveys. When we hired a rookie coach he was the biggest single winner. He must have the confidence of John Coates because he appears to be certifiably mad to me. Gods, this post made me laugh out loud! I honestly couldn't agree more re Tricky Ricky appearing certifiably mad...he does seem completely insane and as much as I hope & pray that this appointment is a master stroke and a humongous success, the power transfer hasn't gone unnoticed for me and it fills me with dread just how much power & control Tricky has now got.

Yes, it's absolutely extraordinary to me. I guess in the end John Coates wants to address a man in a suit if he would like the coat stand moving a little to the left or right. And somehow Richard Martin got the gig. Meantime the messy, cold, wet blue collar work of running the football team has been given to a liverpudlian scallywag. With Martin occasionally venturing out from the warm with his macintosh on to offer some encouragement or direction.

For many months, some supporters have bemoaned the club for not having a Brentford / Brighton style model despite recently appointing a Technical Director and a Head of Recruitment. ‘Too much control for the manager’ ‘We are stuck in the dark ages’ ‘Ricky Martin is Alex Neil’s best mate’ ‘John Coates doesn’t know what he’s doing’ But Ricky Martin remains post-Neil, was heavily involved in the new manager (sorry, Head Coach) recruitment process and our business in the summer, aside from a few signings, was obviously led by Dublin’s data and not from Neil’s notebook. Can those same supporters now acknowledge that we do have the model that they’ve championed? Perhaps the key is just winning football games rather than models, trends and hipster football perspectives. if 'winning games' was that easy you have to wonder why we haven't been doing much of it the past seven years.

That they've put something vaguely in after seven years isn't course for a pat on the back. I maintain we were the worst non-crisis club in the country, and tbh at other clubs they'd be fuming, they wouldn't think the sun shines out of the board's arses.
We might be improving now... but by how much?

This. After vidigals initial start nobody has really stood out. We spent decent money on RM and WB and both have hardly pulled up any trees. I can imagine them being decent in the leagues below but neither are currently justifying the outlay afforded to them Don’t like him personally but we spent €2M upfront on RM I’d hardly call it decent money considering the striker market in the Summer. How are Coventry meant to be thinking about Ellis Simms, Leicester Tom Cannon, Southampton Ross Stewart? It was a big chunk of our budget. Coventry sold the Greek bloke and Hamer for good money

Hopefully SS steadies the ship and pushes on

We have been massively behind the times. A decade behind.

Coventry sold the Greek bloke and Hamer for good money It really wasn't we sold Souttar for good money and hadn't spent any of it, it's misleading to look at our net spent in the Summer without taking that into consideration. Shit as AN mainly was he was not given some sort of warchest to spend. We were around £7/10M in profit on player trading during his tenure. People who think we've invested a ton of money in the squad are having the wool pulled over their eyes. £1.75M is not good money for a striker. It's a punt
