He has an excellent reputation as a coach and has done some really good work with the England u21s.
However, working in academy football and getting to work with the best young English players from around the country are very different challenges when compared to trying to get a second-rate Championship team into shape.
He is definitely an interesting option, but, as with any young coach, will be a big gamble.

Yep agreed. He made the leap and was successful Itās still a gamble. Pretty much any appointment we make will be a gamble, the dead certs are out of our league at present. Yep I agree. But thereās gambles and thereās gambles. If carsley was appointed and it didnāt work out, its all but league 1 next season. An experienced coach would bring a better chance of knowing how to move things on with this disjointed team. Not saying it couldnāt work it may, but for me, I would prefer someone who is battle hardened for our current predicament

Probably worth having a couple of quid on Hecky at 25/1.

Probably worth having a couple of quid on Hecky at 25/1. Probably would be a small consolation if I could make a bit of cash if he got it. But I'd have to use some of the winnings on several stiff drinks soon after he was unveiled!

Probably worth having a couple of quid on Hecky at 25/1. If he gets the job, Iām going on the team news thread every game and saying āFlipping Heckā until Coates decides enough is enough.

Not interested in Carsley, I'm sure he's a good coach teaching kids but he's not what we need here right now.

No name team managers? i found the link to be interesting. Tbh, im not against it... but a bit underwhelming. Would the Coates appoint a manager that isn't from Great Britain? as they haven't yet in 2 spells....it gonna be Mowbray isnt it? haha

in very recent years how many elite youth managers haven't worked versus those who have?
It feels like it's changed alot and they rarely fail, so he could be a great signing. With the management duties at our club now spread across a number of people, a top coach is probably the best way of moving forward.
We've got outstanding training facilities, good players, so why not?

The problem now is that given our troubles and the fact its nearly xmas, the stakes are very high. Not many wanted pulis back the 2nd time and look how that worked out š
