They need money: justgiving.com/campaign/stokefilmtheatreThe FT was brilliant, often the only place you could see independent/foreign/arthouse films in S-o-T. Pretty sure it was the only volunteer-run picture house in the country. My mum volunteered there religiously every Friday night for years when I was a kid, then in my early 20s I trained as a projectionist and did a couple of seasons projecting. Great experience. One time we did an old silent movie and had a live pianist in the auditorium improvising the soundtrack, exactly how it would have been done a hundred years ago. Also had talks there from the late John Jordan who ran it, and who worked on films with Stanley Kubrick in the 70s. Anyway a great institution, it was a real shame they couldn't get up and running with the university again after Covid. Good that they've found a new home but looks like there's work to do.. certainly worth a donation for anyone interested in the cultural fabric of the city.

What a fantastic post we used to go with friends and saw some fantastic foreign language films that wouldn't have got anywhere near an Odeon or a Vue.......
