Just randomly remembered the name and can’t remember where it came from?!
Was it his little “shimmy”??

I thought it was because of the way he moved with the ball and his feet sort of went everywhere as though he was dancing, although to be fair that is more of a guess. Certainly remember the nickname though.

I’m pretty sure we had Small and Short playing at the same time as being managed by Little.

Yes it was his crazy dancing feet, arms and legs everywhere, off in all different directions. Always played with a smile on his face as well I seem to remember.

I’m pretty sure we had Small and Short playing at the same time as being managed by Little. Shame about Chris Short, good player. Still remember him collapsing at Fulham not long after his debut and needing emergency oxygen. He had to retire a few years later with a circulation problem.

Wasn't it because he did a dummy header more than once and some step overs which looked like a dance moves?

I quite liked him
Yep his footwork was a bit odd which is where I assume he got the name. When shielding the ball out for a goal kick he'd turn into Bobby from Boney M with some killer moves

Yes it was his crazy dancing feet, arms and legs everywhere, off in all different directions. Always played with a smile on his face as well I seem to remember. Probably knew that he was stealing a living . From what I remember of him, his problem was that he was horrendously one footed. His left foot was actually pretty decent and he could whip a decent ball in. But his right foot was for standing only and he couldn't use it at all. And his 'disco' moves were as a result of his constant attempts to contort his body and change the angle so he could get onto his left foot. He started the season well and looked a good signing but once other clubs clocked onto how one footed he was and started pushing him onto his right foot all the time, he became useless and his 'disco' moves became more exaggerated and stupid looking. If he'd just worked harder on his weaker foot as he was growing up he'd have been pretty good.

He went on to play for my non league team hednesford and can confirm he was just as terrible, only thing I remember him for there was him skying a shot in the warm up before a game an managing to knock my dads tea straight out his hand.

I still haven't forgive Cliff Carr for doing that with my Bovril one freezing cold day during the warm up

Have recollections of the early days of the season 98/99 season, when things were going very well indeed, of Tony McAndrew (Brian Little’s assistant) sitting on the halfway line at East Stand side of the pitch.
This enabled the new management team to enjoy the full benefit of the Disco moves, prior to their well planned installation of Disco lights to celebrate their 25th anniversary in charge 🙂
