Shit, how could I forget him! Did he have a fallout with Mills? Let him go far too soon imo Yes he did, Kelly headbutted Brian Talbot in the tunnel after 4.1 defeat at Shrewsbury Mills sided with Talbot Talbot later signed Kelly for Albion Safe to say that Mick and Tony had a fractious relationship. I think Mills really wanted Kelly to do well because he was clearly a very talented player. Sadly, Zico shot himself in the foot repeatedly. He turned up for pre season training in 1986 two stone overweight and got taken out of the team after a few games and put on a crash course diet. Then, once he slimmed down a bit and started playing well, he got suspended and came back a few weeks later looking like the pilsbury dough boy again. The head butting incident with Talbot was the straw that broke the camels back. Ron Saunders actually signed him for West Brom. He only lasted a few months and got sacked and replaced by Ron Atkinson. Big Ron took the players over to Spain for a team bonding trip which ended up with Kelly getting involved in a fight with Don Goodman. As a result, he was then put on the transfer list a matter of weeks after signing for them. When Talbot took over he moved him on quickly to Shrewsbury.

Your daily reminder that we needed the summer overhaul partly (a big part) because of Michael O’Neil.
I fucking despair.

Yes because he picked a system and then didn’t sign players for it leading to us needing to rip the squad apart and sign a new squad. He is the reason that was needed.

We needed a major overhaul whether MON was in charge or not this season due to the amount of loanees returning and out of contract players we had, which was all FFP related......

People ask me if he's named after the mercurial 70s/80s Brazil midfield maestro and I answer in the affirmative. He's really named after Tony Kelly though.

Thought he did a decent job, working within the constraints of FFP. He didn’t. FFP doesn’t restrict you signing players to fit a system you want to play. Bad management does that.

And he still spent 5-10m and still had expensive loans (none worked) and left us in a mess. A good manager would have spent the money wiser and used the loan market better and got more out of them.

Who spent £5 to £10m? NETT If you think MoN spent more than he generated with player sales you are simply factually wrong

That has nothing to do with my point. Whoever was manager this season faced a major overhaul this season. That's just a fact. If Jones hadn't wasted a load of money before him, MON wouldn't have been hamstrung by FFP so it's his fault. Hang on, no, it was Rowett who made such a mess of recruitment before him that it's probably his fault. But if Lambert hadn't got us relegated then Rowett wouldn't have even had that summer. And if Hughes hadn't let everyone fuck around and down tools, we would never have had Lambert. Fucking hell, no actually, if TP hadn't taken his eye off the ball and got sacked, we wouldn't have had Hughes, Lambert, Rowett, Jones, MON, Neil or Schumacher. It's his fucking fault. And if Mick Mills had signed David Platt instead of Graham Shaw none of this would have happened. Actually, I blame Bob McGrory, the useless cunt.

He is the reason that was needed. MON often wanted to play 352. It’s not his fault that we then hired a manager in AN who wanted to play 433. We’ve now hired a manager who likes to play a variant of 352 again. That’s on the chairman.

I see Webber's put his foot in his mouth again, he seems to revel in it From what I can pick out from other clubs, the used car salesman types can fluke success at one club and get headhunted, but have no idea how to replicate it. The club's that know what they're doing appoint football men to the post, often ones closely associated with the club. I'm finding myself very much in the Walters camp.

Well I have 3 dogs, called Bojan, Arnie and Shaq. They can definitely fill in up front for the current team. (although this is well off topic, inspired by the cat Zico and completely false...)
